My wifes keyboard works
I purchased a ps2 to usb "adapter" and it did not work. This is a converter that actually converts signals from keyboard to usb. My wifes keyboard is an old IBM form 1985 and she can type over 100 words a minute now. She's very happy.

Nearly Perfect, Good Enough for Me
UPDATE: It turns out the issue with the mouse pointer freezing was actually a software problem relating to my computer's graphics driver. As a result, I've increased my rating to 5 stars as this adapter was not the cause of the issue. The original review is kept below, but keep in mind the issue mentioned no longer occurs. You can't go wrong with Tripp Lite, and this PS/2 adapter nearly lives up to its brand. The build quality is excellent and certainly what I'd expect from a Tripp Lite product. However, I can't help but notice that my PS/2 mouse will occasionally stop responding for a split second, which causes the cursor to stop until you move it around a bit. I haven't been able to reliably reproduce the issue but I know the mouse works fine with another PC in PS/2 mode. I'm not terribly bothered by it since I don't use it all that often and it only rarely happens.Other than this minor hitch, everything else works exactly as expected. Setup was trivial, everything was plug-and-play. The cables are plenty long enough to reach wherever I needed them, and the converter "box" in the middle is super compact. Overall an almost perfect product, but it's good enough for me.

Works, but resets often
Of all the PS/2 to USB adapters on Amazon, this was the only one that actually works correctly with an IBM Model M keyboard, correctly performing n-key rollover and mapping all keys correctly. However, it has a tendency to hard reset (all the lights on the keyboard blink and it doesn't accept input for perhaps one second) in the middle of use maybe three or four times a day. I've had it replaced twice thinking it might be poor QA or a bad batch, but the problem persists.

Works Reliably, High Recommended
I'm a big fan of the old IBM model M "clicky" keyboards, as my typing is very noticeably better when using them. I first bought a similar "cheapie" USB keyboard/mouse adapter from eBay. It worked, but several times a day it would get into a mode where it would quickly repeat the last keypress over and over, it was extremely annoying. Got this one, plugged it in (Windows 10 system), and it worked fine. No problems at all after using it for several weeks now.

This is the company to do business with
These people deserve customer support of the year. I tried this cable after trying (and returning) several others. I needed the cable to connect a second computer to a PS/2 KVM switch via the computer's USB port. I already had a first computer connected to the switch with a different manufacturer's PS/2-USB converter cable. When I hooked up this cable everything worked perfectly except the hot-key sequence to switch between the computers. The KVM has an external button to switch between the computers which worked fine and the PS/2 mouse and keyboard worked fine on both computers. I could've lived with it but I decided to contact Tripp Lite. After a lengthy email explaining my set up, their tech support replied and was very interested in getting to the bottom of it. After trying several experiments and reporting back to them, they said it might be possible the two cables are interfering with each other. So they sent me a second cable to swap in place of the other manufacturer's cable. Wala .. problem solved and the set up works perfectly now. They said their cables support KVM switches and they backed up their claim. No more searching for me .. if I need a cable in the future, it's going to be Tripp Lite. For all the effort they put forth for a $12 cable .. I give them 6 STARs.

Works with IBM Model M Keyboard with 1 Adjustment in Win 10 Settings
Adapter works with IBM Model M Keyboards. ONLY WORKED FOR ME BY PLUGGING USB INTO LAPTOP DIRECTLY...NO HUBS POWERED OR NOT WORKED FOR ME. Works with Win 10 Build 1803 as of 10/15/18. To get the adapter to work in Win 10 you have to disable Fast Startup Option in the operating system. First, open up your power options by hitting Windows+X or right-clicking your Start menu and selecting Power Options. In the Power Options window, click “Choose what the power buttons do.” Click “Change settings that are currently unavailable” to make the Fast Startup option available for configuration. Scroll to the bottom of the window and you should see “Turn on fast startup (recommended),” along with other shutdown settings. Just use the check box to enable or disable Fast Startup. DISABLE IT. Save your changes and shut down your system to test it out. If you don’t see the option at all, it means hibernation is not enabled on your machine. In this case, the only shutdown options you’ll see are Sleep and Lock. The quickest way to enable hibernation is to close the power settings window and then hit Windows+X and open Command Prompt (Admin). At the Command Prompt, type the command: powercfg /hibernate onAfter turning hibernate on, run through the steps again and you should see both the Hibernate and Fast Startup options.

this looks like the next best thing
Unfortunately, my new laptop dock did not have PS/2. This works flawlessly with my IBM model M keyboard. Unlike the cheap no-name stuff I've been using before, it does not glitch/hang buttons/stop working at random times. If you can't use PS/2, this looks like the next best thing. I'll update this review if it should stop working correctly at a later time.
