Easy to apply, softened leather, and made for a great shine!
I've tried many different conditioners on my saddle, and found this to be the very easy to apply. I am not the type of person who cleans my saddle every use, more like every few months, so I wanted something that worked really well and protected for a long time. It is not a thick cream, but more of a thin liquid that applies well with sponges. I cleaned all of my tack(saddle, bridle, reins, stirrup leathers, and boots) with saddle soap first to remove dirt. Some people are afraid of saddle soap because it dries out leather, but if you condition soon after, there are no problems. Two things to keep in mind - the bottle is MUCH smaller than it appears in picture. This is one liter, picture the 1 liter soda bottles at gas stations. Also, my dogs readily licked up any spills I made(I was quite messy since it is pretty viscous). I am not sure if this is nontoxic or not...it is most likely animal based, but I would exercise caution with dogs around. Now, to the important part, it did make my gear MUCH more supple and with a good sheen. The flaps on my saddle were surprisingly stiff, even though my saddle has seen many seasons, and after this they actually did soften up and I was able to work them to be even softer. I also didn't realize how stiff my stirrup leathers were until I used this and then was able to bend and twist them much easier. I had used several different conditioners before this, and they were never that loose. The final look was clean, I think most conditioners end up with a great look and there is little difference between them in that respect, but the fact that this loosened everything up makes is stand out.

softens and protects
I have previously used other Lexol products as well as leather conditioners from other brands, however this is by far the best one in terms of softening and protecting leather. I tried it first on a low quality leather jacket that's seen its fair share of downpours. Before I applied the neatsfoot lotion, the leather was a bit stiff, rough and crinkled a little like wax paper. After cleaning I applied a liberal amount of neatsfoot using an applicator sponge and allowed it to soak in for 4-6 hours. Then I wiped of the extra with a damp towel. This product not only softened the leather but also seemed to give it some more vitality and body. The surface is much smoother now and feels like much higher quality leather. Following this success I applied it to several shoes and found similarly positive results. In comparison to Lexol's other leather conditioner, this product seems to penetrate deeper while leaving less residue. It more than noticeably improves the texture and softness of leather, whereas the other product's "conditioning" was barely noticeable. This means that it's great for applications where added softness and suppleness are desired, however on stiffer dress shoes (and possibly handbags) this product might make the leather too soft and prone to wrinkling around bending points. It also takes upward of a day to "dry", or get fully absorbed.I love this product and highly recommend it!'

really puts the softness and luster back into leather
I bought this and the cleanertogether. I have expensive leather furniture that was stored in an outside "pod" (in Florida) for a year. It had dust on it and dried out quite a bit being out there all that time. It had started out as deep dark green, and over this time, had lost a lot of luster. It had also gotten pretty dry, no longer so pliable as new.Using the cleaner, I first got off all the residual dust and stuff that was on the leather. Then, I put this conditioner on and left it on overnight. When I finally buffed off the conditioner, the furniture looks like new! All the original deep color is back, the leather is very soft, not sticky at all, and no longer dry. These Lexol products did a great job of restoring the leather, did nothing to alter the color (except to restore the luster), so I highly recommend this. For this cheap price for a liter, this is a great buy.I also used this on my new car's leather seats (light "stone" color). It really makes the seats nice, and again, no color alteration.

Great stuff!!
I've owned a pair of $300.00 Red Wing 8" pole climber's boots since 2006, great boots by the way. It had been FAR too long since the last time took care of them. I've tried polish, leather conditioners (other than Lexol), mink oil and other things I can't remember right now because I've always been completely unimpressed with how those other products performed. This line of Lexol Neatsfoot oil based products is exactly what I hoped it would be and more. My boots were really very badly dried out, I was afraid I was going to need to toss my boots out until I used the Lexol "Neatsfoot Leather Conditioner" 6 or 8 months ago, and now this "Dressing". Now they're dern near brand new again! Thank you Lexol for saving my boots! You definitely have a new fan for life, unless you do something really dumb, like change the formulas to save on cost of raw materials! DON'T DO IT!! Don't fix what aint broke! Charge me more before you cut cost! It's PERFECT!! lol Really, great stuff. They even did wonders on my good leather work belts. If society ever falls apart I hope I have enough warning so I can stock up a few barrels of this Neatsfoot stuff!

Excellent leather softener
When it comes to restoring dried/cracked/worn leather, neatsfoot oil has always been one of the better treatments. With a gotcha. Traditional neatsfoot is, well, an oil and pretty messy. As in little pools remain in the cracks on car seats and stain your jeans when you sit in them hours later.Lexol has solved that problem with a water soluble version of neatsfoot. It may not be quite as good as greasy original neatsfoot, but its pretty darn good at restoring worn leather car seats. Lets say 90% of the restoring ability of original oil, but far less hassle. If you use all three Lexol products (cleaner, then neatfoot while still wet, finally conditioner the next day) you will be quite pleased with the results.
