Bought this as a gift for twin 10 year old birthdays. I heard they liked that it lit up and showed the constellations.

Let's be clear, you buy this 90% for the day globe, and 10% for the night globe. Unlike some other globes on the market (look carefully at the information shown), the mapping in this one is extremely detailed with countries, capital cities and even smaller cities. It's a serious globe with a lot for a child to discover. All that information means the text can get quite small. Kids can read even the smallest text quite easily, for adults a magnifying glass helps hugely. You wonder why they don't include one with it. The night globe is ok - the information isn't that cleanly presented, there is a dark band around the equator where the two halves are glued together (they could have done a better job with this hence the 4 stars), and the reddish color of some of the continents which still shows through is a bit distracting.

My grandson just turned 7. He is very inquisitive and is always asking how's it made and why is it?. Bought him the globe for Christmas present and he was so full of wonder and asking a lot of Whys! When the globe went to nite his eyes grew wide with excitement and more questions follwed. Needless to say he liked the present!!

I bought this for my nine year old grandson to Christmas. It is a very nice globe and my grandson was thrilled.

My son loves turning the light on and off. Great size and well made. Super happy with our globe!

Kids love talking about the different countries and constellations.
