Great for sleeping bag/personal clealiness.
The Cocoon Expedition liner is a ripstop silk liner that is designed to go around you before you get into your sleeping bag. Before buying this, I had not used a sleeping bag liner before so I cannot speak to past experiences, but I ended up buying this because I went from a synthetic to a down sleeping bag and wanted to minimise washing of the sleeping bag to preserve the loft of the down. The liner is mummy shaped and very spacious, with no zips or openings down the side so you must get in from the top. Some people consider this a disadvantage, but I do not mind it although I can see how adding a method to open it and enter from the side would be very beneficial. There is a cord to cinch the hood/neck area, and the red stuff sack is sewn onto the front face of the liner so you will never lose it. The liner itself is pretty thin and is actually somewhat transparent, so do not expect the liner to add warmth to your sleeping bag. I did not buy it for this purpose so this factor did not affect my purchase decision. If you wish to add additional warmth to your sleeping bag, this will not be the product for you.The silk feels great and smooth, and in my time using it (2-3 months) I have not experienced any holes or loose threads appearing. Build quality feels really great but because it is so thin I try not to catch it on anything sharp, and I haven't done so yet so I can't report about how "ripstop" it actually is. I used the liner while travelling in Nepal trekking, and it did a fantastic job of keeping my sleeping bag relatively clean. While my sleeping bag did end up smelling a little bad from not showering at all while trekking, the sleeping bag liner smelled a lot worse and I took that to mean that it was actually doing its job. It was also nice having the silky feeling against my bed when I went to sleep. The smoothness of the silk however means that if you tend to roll around inside your sleeping bag a lot when you sleep, you and the liner will roll but your sleeping bag probably will not. I don't know if this is a con or not but it is something to be aware of. The hood was great and the cord cinches down really well, but because you have to constrict through a lot of cord to get it tight around your head, you end up with a massive length of cord that can be a bit annoying if you don't push it outside the liner. Because there is no side access, once you cinch the hood/neck cord it becomes very difficult to move around. The addition of the stuff sack sewed to the front of the liner is also fantastic. In areas where I wanted some extra personal security, such as watching out for my wallet or passport, I could store both of them inside the stuff sack so they would be within my sleeping bag when I slept. You can also keep any other small items you may need in the stuff sack, for example a torch, or batteries to stop them getting killed by extreme cold.In terms of sizing, I am about 183 cm tall (6 foot?) and can fit in the "Regular" size with plenty of room and extra cloth to spare. If you have a tight sleeping bag, the sizing doesn't really matter because the material is so thin and pliable that it will just fill up any spaces that aren't already filled in your sleeping bag.In summary:Pros:- Maintains cleanliness of sleeping bag- Integrated stuff sack lets you store things inside your sleeping bag- Good build quality, seems durable although best not to put it to any hard tests- Hood cinches up really tightCons:- Not for people who are looking to add warmth to their sleeping bagIf this liner was damaged/lost/stolen, I would probably buy it again. I only say probably because I am not entirely aware of the rest of the sleeping bag liner market but as far as my experiences go, this is a great product.

Comfortable & lightweight
For sure, it is lightweight, and feels great. I couldn't quite get it up over my head; too much wiggling required and not enough room in my women's mummy bag to manage that feat. I'm a short but chunky gal, so the Expedition was a bit too snug for my liking when my arms were straight by my sides. Instead, I pulled it up to my shoulders, tucked my arms inside near my chest, and was very comfortable, as it only feels too narrow around the hip area. There was lots of leg and upper body room (felt downright luxurious puddled around my feet). It turned with me inside the mummy bag, and I never felt twisted up. Could tell a difference if I did not pull it over my arms, so there's for sure an added warmth factor. Used it with a 15+ bag next to a north Texas lake in March for four nights, with overnight temps in the low 50's and slept soundly. Never thought I'd get it back into its little stuff sack, but it went right in without problem. I read a review elsewhere that stated in hot weather it actually felt cooler to sleep with it rather than without due to the bags wicking qualities. Hence, I'm looking forward to using it alone as a summer bag when temperatures soar to 90+ in a few months. Note to ladies: the women's version of the Expedition is NOT ripstop(?!), I called the company and verified. So if ripstop is important, go with this one.

Light, warm, compact, durable.
Very light and compact and adds a fair degree of warmth to my bag (as well as keeping it clean). It's also easy to wash and drys very fast. I'd definitely buy it again if needed, though I've already had it for 4 years (holiday use only - around 6 weeks per year) and looks pretty much as good as new.

For camping and beyond
I purchased two of these - one for self and other for fiance - for camping purposes. On an overnight with my school (I am also a teacher), I brought just the Cocoon to test its warmth in a solo situation. I was impressed with the warmth that the unit provided - I was actually sweating a little on our excursion. This is now a critical addition to my "go bag." I have one in the car for added warmth in the event of a long trip and the desire not to spend money on a hotel room. The fabric feels less akin to silk and more akin to a synthetic, though it is made of silk. It is not as slippery or uncomfortable as many performance fabrics tend to be, however. My fiance did not like having the extra layer with her sleeping bag in the summer, stating it made her too hot. I will likely bring just these two as my sleeping bag next time we go backpacking to step up my ultra light summer rig.

It is quite comfortable. It's a great way to make your bag ...
i use this every time i camp. It is quite comfortable. It's a great way to make your bag a few degrees warmer and keep your down from getting too dirty/moist. It comes with an attached bag to stuff it into but I found it got in the way while sleeping so I cut it off. I just keep the liner in the same bag as my sleeping bag.

I am very pleased with this liner
Just used this this past weekend. I used this to line my sleeping bag. The night temp was in the upper 60's This was so warm, I did not need my sleeping bag, just a light cover with this. I am very pleased with this liner. Linda

Seideninlet
