Roberts Rambler BT Retro/Digital Portable Bluetooth Radio with DAB/DAB/FM RDS Wavebands - Blue

This is a beautiful radio, with great sound quality. It also has a good mains connection, with the option to use batteries when needed. I had initially thought it was a little expensive, but when I compare it to other cheaper radios, I can honestly say I feel it is worth it. It has intuitive controls and can be used without having to read a manual for half an hour. Brilliant product!

This is a great sounding radio but eats batteries. so you have it plugged into the electric, well then brilliant little radio, great sound, great look ,very retro, we bought the green one very well made.The reason why the radio eat the batteries you can't turn it off,the clock is always on you can dim it but using power . I have tried both rechargeable and normal high quality batteries the same story. I have 3 roberts radios one 1950s 70 80 s all still running well

Radio looks nice and has that 70s retro look. Feels good quality and not cheap like some radio's.Easy to use and display is clear.Sound is nice but not the loudest of radio's.

I initially looked into getting one of these based on its looks alone, there's no denying it's retro styling and beautiful build quality. As others have said, the sound does rather let it down. It's not very loud even on full volume, the bass is slightly muddy and there's no real richness to the tone.All I wanted this for though is to listen to Podcasts to help me sleep, it sits next to my bed and is good enough for what I need, voices are clear and it stays connected fine. I had bought this with the idea that if it wasn't up to par I'd return it, but it's such a nice little package that I can't bring myself to do it. If it was 30 quid cheaper I'd feel more comfortable about the purchase, but I'm keeping it anyway. Audiophiles may want to keep looking, but if you're looking for something that oozes style and nostalgia while delivering acceptable sound quality and price isn't an option, this is one to consider.Overall I'm happy with my purchase

I bought this radio as I've already have Roberts because of the quality and sound of the others I have.This radio I like very much but was disappointed the fact when I put in my battery's it had already been tuned into all the stations I know that from the others I have bought you tune in yourself all the station I got In touch with Amazon saying this radio was not new that it was already tuned into all the stations and that it wasn't brand new it was second hand as someone had already had this radio tuned it in and returned back to amazon because they didn't want it.I got in touch with Roberts head office they assured me they do not tune in any radios when you buy the radio you tune in yourself I had told them mine was already tuned into all the stations that's why I contacted them.they said someone had already had that radio if it was tuned into stations and retuned it to AmazonSo to me my radio was not brand new felt cheated whoever had this radio shame on you for doing that I reset it to factory settings. was going to return it but couldn't be bothered Sorry Amazon you didn't help me with this one you kept telling me it was brand new and that Roberts maybe had tuned the radio at the factory was not true shame on you too for doing that to me.

I've only had the radio a day but ut seems to be up to the usual high quality Roberts standard. I love the functionality and retro style. I recommend this product.Now a word about how contemptible Amazon delivery drivers are and their lack of respect for people's property.I would rate the Amazon delivery a one star as the box was damaged quite badly and the driver ran off before I could confront him about his poor performance. Its delivery like this that makes me think Amazon don't care and are too big to be bothered about their customers.

Really pleased with this, bought it as a gift after using one at a hotel we visited. Good sound for such a small unit, links across the Wi-Fi, works on batteries, not supplied, or mains. Just a really good modern radio with a retro look.

What a beautiful radio! In person it is just as good-looking as the pictures show. I have read very favourable reviews for the sound quality of this radio and all products of Roberts are highly regarded, so I bought this little radio with confidence.Owning a tiny Sangean WR-7 and an even tinier Muzen wood radio I was looking for a well-built retro compact radio that is a bit bigger and with it a bigger sound and one that is not dependant on charging a non-replaceable battery. DAB radio is a plus, just for those occasions FM is too noisy.This radio is very easy to use, I didn't need to read the manual at all, DAB reception is good, although I need to use the antenna to receive the Dutch Radio 4 (classical music). Blue tooth, although it initially took a long time for my iPhone to find Rambler's signal, works just fine. Build quality is as expected nice, although very light weight, I wasn't expecting that, the tiny Sangean feel more solid.So everything is fine...except for the sound that is. This Rambler is three times the size of the Sangean WR-7 but the sound of the Sangean has at least three times more weight. And with weight I don't mean a vulgar bass boost, (Bose or Apple Home pods are not welcome in my house), I mean a solid well balanced, well defined and grounded sound. This Rambler doesn't sound tinny, not at all, but it completely lacks bass, there is not even a hint of lows or any warmth. It lacks soul and depth. With the Sangean and a lesser degree the Muzen, you're not listening to a speaker, the sound flows, it projects very well. With the Rambler I am listening to the sound of what appears to be a poorly dampened speaker unit, a somewhat hollow sound. I assume only the side plates are made of wood? Not saying it objectively has poor sound quality, not at all, the sound is very clean and it goes loud without distortion. But for music it is too thin sounding, everyhting from cello to bassoon lacks body. Is this radio perhaps exclusively made for the spoken word? Listening News radio or a radio play will be superb with this radio, I guess.I had confidently bought this radio to keep, not to try. (I had to buy a UK to Euro plug to use the AC adapter) What a shame, I didn't expect the radio to sound like it does.Sorry, but I have to return it.
