The Claude Bernard StoryThe place where Jurassic watch making startedIn the mid-16th century, the 27-yearold Frenchman John Calvin broke with the Roman Catholic Church and fled to Geneva, Switzerland. Numerous French Huguenots followed him.As a result of religious policies Calvin banned all jewelry, such as beads, bracelets, gold and gemstones. Consequently, goldsmiths and jewelers were forced to turn to a new craft - watchmaking. It was the perfect thing to do for these highly skilled artisans. Many of them moved north from Geneva and master mechanic Claude Bernard was one of them. He discovered the gorgeous, almost divine, high-plateau in the midst of the Jura headlands, a secluded mountain-range along the French border. As a tribute to his hometown Geneva (French Genève) he called this charming hideout “Les Genevez”. Most of the year Claude Bernard, like most of his companions, farmed to feed himself and his family. But during the long and harsh winter months, when the landscapes vanished under heavy snow and the brooks were covered with ice, Claude and his fellow craftsmen created watch masterpieces. The mechanics and skillful builders started to reinvent the workings of all kinds of timepieces. The original 16th century house where these skilled artisans used to gather and share their tools and ideas still exists. It has been carefully restored and today serves as a public museum. Swiss watch manufacturer Claude Bernard is honored to be a patron of the more than 450-year-old institution, which is so closely related to their own history. Brave innovators with ground breaking ideas were the reason why “Les Genevez in the Jura” was labelled the “birthplace of Swiss watchmaking in the northeast of Switzerland” and a pioneer of highly acclaimed Swiss quality and ingenuity. Today, the professional watchmakers working for Claude Bernard, the Swiss watch factory in “Les Genevez - Le centre du Jura”, are still filled with pride of their heritage and eager to make the finest wrist watches money can buy. Stainless steel case with a black leather strap. Fixed stainless steel bezel. Black dial with silver-tone hands and stick hour markers. Tachymeter scale around outer rim. Dial type: Analog. Classic
This is a beautiful black watch and I think for men who do not want to look too sporty or too blingy (new word!) wearing it but just simply chic. Although I do feel that this watch would be great for formal occasions I bought it for everyday use and even wear it to the gym (might look a bit too expensive there though).I chose this model over the 035617 eventhough it was about $50 more because of the fact that the 12 hour measurement functionality is much more useful that the 30 minutes measurement and also the fact that this model looks more unique than the one with 3 identical circles.Con? The band was a bit stiff at first but is getting more comfortable by the day.

So far so good. I've had the watch a month and I like it. The band looks good, not flimsy, and very comfortable. The dial is a little difficult to read because of reflection. I probably spent a little more ($400) than this watch is worth but it's a result of ordering the watch online without seeing one in person.

Beautiful watch!
Very we'll made watch. Beautiful, comfortable, accurate and very reasonably priced. Looks like a much more expensive watch. Tissot knows what they're doing.

No guarantee paper
It looks really nice, I bought it as a birthday gift for my bf but I can't find any guarantee paper inside the box.

Satisfied, solid watch
Nice watch, very solid. Watch came in original box with all the manuals. Band is not the most comfortable with the clasp, but seems to be breaking in well.

Doesn't work... Be careful buying watches from Amazon
Watch stopped working after a little over 2 years. Taken it to three different certified stores... all said it's not repairable and has to be sent back to Tissot. Amazon refused to help with the issue either. Basically said it's not their problem at this point because I'm 4 months past the 2 year window.
