I'm Impressed
When I bought my Nuvi I happened to notice this mount -- wow, am I glad. I wanted something to use temporarily so I could continue using my TomTom while I evaluated the Nuvi. I didn't expect much for the price, but figured if it worked for a week it would have served its purpose.I was surprised, amazed and impressed at how well it works on my '04 Camry -- for the price, it's amazing. The evaluation over, I've moved the TomTom to the second car now, and expect this to be the permanent mount for the Nuvi.It snaps together and installs easily and quickly (Part of the mount that comes with the Nuvi is required, so you can't use both.). Someone commented that the assembly/installation instructions are poor -- that's true.On my car it holds the Nuvi securely enough (a little flexing, but good enough). Note: See the pictures I uploaded for my installation. I have it on the passenger vent. There are two major advantages to this location over the windshield. You aren't having to read it with the blinding light from the windshield behind it, and it is close and conveniently located for the passenger to operate it. I've only tried to operated it a couple of times here, but it is as convenient as the TomTom windshield mount. I've used the TomTom for about four years in the window and this is clearly more convenient. Until I removed it I wasn't aware how much it was in my window view -- the open view is nice, and no more wire draped down the middle of this area. Also, the windshield location invites thieves.I'm not sure which location is safer in a collision, and I haven't tried to remove it. There's some indication you can damage the vent louvers if not careful.Edited on April 12th to add:I now understand the complaint in other reviews about wobble. It doesn't tolerate side forces. If you push on it straight toward the grill it's stable enough, but on one occasion I pushed on it at and angle to the grill and it came off entirely. I'm still pleased with it, but side forces must be avoided.

It worked for my Volvo XC90!
The price was right to give this product a try for my Volvo XC90. I was not happy with the windshield mount which put the Gramin out of arms reach if mounted to the right of the steering wheel, or blocked some of my vision to the left of the steering wheel, but kept the controls in reach. I also didn't like the washed out display and heat it was getting from the sun.I figured if this product didn't work in one of the two middle vents, I would cannibalize it and attach it to some nice wood that I would make fit in the console pocket near the radio, so either way this was going to work for me.The item came within 2 days of ordering it without directions, and only three parts. Very simple to put together, but no advice how to install it. At first I tried to install it like the picture with the clips at the top and the swivel piece supporting it on the bottom. That didn't work at all in either vent on both sides of each vent since you can't put it in the middle. I also tried with the alligator clips oriented upside down to the way it is in the picture, but that was no good either. Both attempts for very unstable and the slightest bump pointed the Garmin to the floor. My last attempt before breaking out the saw, was to try it upside down from the product picture. I could see that it may work, if put in the vent closest to the steering wheel to the left of the louver control. By placing the alligator clips on the bottom, and gently pushing it all the way in, it became very snug and solid. I quickly connected the Garmin and gave it the sunlight and bump road test and it PASSED! I can easily take the Garmin with me and the mount will stay put as well. The mount will only come out if you insist, by pushing apart the alligator clips and pulling the mount out which is not that easy to do.I am very happy with it's location to the right of the instrument panel, below the windshield, and away from the bright sun. You may have to experiment with your car and the vents to get it to work properly including tilting the louvers, mounting it upside down, or just the clips upside down, but with 10 minutes of trial and error, I can say it worked great in my XC90.

Much better than windshield stick mount
I put this in a 2007 Honda Civic (hybrid, but I don't think that matters) this car has a very long, sloped windshield the factory mount just does not work...anyway, I attached it to the air vent left of the driver and it works very well...the GPS is in a great position to read and close enough to touch.I just took a nearly 3,000 mile road trip, no problems with the mount at all, some of the roads were a bit rough and it did wiggle around a bit but really no more than the factory mount and it did hold tight no matter the road. I had no problem with falling or coming loose. The air vent is blocked slightly, the same amount of air comes out, a little less hits you directly, the car still cools off just fine.Overall this is a great little divice, it is much cheaper than the mat mounts and mounting it where I did it keeps the GPS out of the frying sun on this cars huge windshield...well worth the under $10 price tag.

This product Is Fantastic. Installed in minutes and works great in my 2011 Avalanche. I have the new & inch screen Garmin Nuvi and it holds no problem. The clips are strong and long enought to fit most vents. We drive to Florida every winter and the 7 inch Garmin is a distraction in the windshield. Way better on the vent and less noticeable even looking through the tinted windows. I would recommend this Garmin Air Vent Holder.

Works for Me!!
I was concerned about fittingk this in the vent of my Infiniti QX50. It was easy to assemble. The clips that go into the vent are moveable so you can adjust them to the size of the vent. Once I decided on which vent I wanted to use it on it was pretty easy to set up and now does not interfere with my windshield view. The stablizer keeps it in place. I have not yet travelled with it but pulled on it after installation to see how sturdy it was and it seems fine. Would recommend.

Works far better than the suction cup
Standard size (17mm) - fits my old Nuvi, and grips the vents firmly. Its great not having to constantly re mount my GPS every time I get into the car.

Arkon GN047 Garmin Nuvi Air Vent with Removable Vent Clips
Does the job but the unit doesn't clamp down as tightly on the vent louvers as I had hoped. For the money it is OK.

Fits a very specific vent size and doesn't have a strong grip.
PROs:- It probably fits a very specific vent size with a weak to moderate grip.CONs:- It didn't fit in any of my car's vents. Well it attached but it flopped around if I touched it which is really annoying when trying to use the device. My car's vent flaps were not large enough. It fit in my van that had larger flaps (probably a little too large) but the van's flaps are vertical so I had to install it sideways which seems to work but is probably not the intended orientation. However, even there it jostles when I touch the screen and it detaches from the vent with very little pulling force. When I hit bumps on the road it falls off.- the pinch force needed and where you need to apply that force to open the "pinchers" makes it quite difficult to install. It was a very frustrating experience.- I would return it but I think all vent flap mounts will likely be just as bad and it's very hard to know if the new ones will fit with my vent types or not.It would be better if the pinchers had an adjustment for different flap sizes. It would be helpful if the seller said the optimal flap size in centimetres/inches so I could have measured my flaps before purchasing.
