Kokopelli: The Magic, Mirth, and Mischief of an Ancient Symbol

Dont start reading until you have time to finish it.
One of the most informitive books on the famous, mischievous icons in ancient history. I love how the book is layer out. The drawings are from the southwest and other parts of the world and I know where many of them are located. The re-created sketches are very accurate and nice to have as a reference due to the aging of many petroglyphs. I learned many new things I was curious about. Very good quotes from various other people fit right in to the theme of this book. I would highly recommend it to all readers.

Good book but rather academic.
We bought this book as a gift for someone who is fascinated with Kokopelli's thinking it would give a good history and be accompanied by some lovely rock art photos. It does accomplish that - but is not really a book for a casual reader. It is very informative but was rather academic and dry. We found it inappropriate for the intended recipient and donated it to the local library.

OK for general information
The author didn't go into as much detail as I was looking and kept to more of the myth rather than the historic value of the people who fulfilled this role across the western hemisphere. I really would have rated it 3.5.
