Barilla Gluten Free Penne

I’ve tried a lot of gluten-free pastas over the years, and Barilla’s Gluten Free Penne is easily one of the best. The texture is very close to traditional pasta — no mushiness or falling apart — and it holds up well in sauces or baked dishes. I’ve used it in everything from mac and cheese to cold pasta salads, and it always turns out great. Made with a mix of corn and rice, it doesn’t have that gritty or overly chewy texture that some gluten-free brands do. Even my family members who aren’t gluten-free didn’t notice a difference — and that says a lot! The pack of 8 is a good value, especially if you eat gluten-free regularly. It’s shelf-stable, cooks in about 10 minutes, and doesn’t require any special handling. Overall, this is my go-to pasta now. If you're gluten-free and tired of pasta that tastes like cardboard, give this a try. It’s a pantry staple for me now.

We've tried so many brands, and thought we had settled on Schar, but Barilla is far better. Better texture, more like wheat pasta, and much better, fuller taste. Also, Barilla is much nicer re-heated than any of the other gluten-free brands. We generally plan to get at least two dinners out of every batch of pasta we prepare, and the other brands tend to get overly chewy, lose their taste, and break into little pieces, but Barilla pasta holds its shape and taste, even as leftovers. Barilla is our new go-to brand for gluten-free pasta. We only hope they start offering more pasta shapes. Do they have gluten-free breadcrumbs?

Ever since going completely GF I have had quite a few hit or miss experiences with noodles, but this particular variety is hands down the most enjoyable. I can invite my entire family over for spaghetti dinner and no one ever notices the difference. I am such a huge fan. And the price is so much more affordable than other GF brands. MUST TRY! The only negative aspect of ordering these noodles was the fact that the amazon has changed how they deliver their goods, and the person who delivered this product was definitely smoking in the car, and when we received the package it smelled like cigarette smoke. This did not affect the goods, but it is very off putting to have food packages smell like cigarettes. We have ordered this multiple times but this is the first time that this has happened. UPDATE: STILL CRAZY ABOUT THIS PASTA! We ran out, and I tried a different brand, and it was mushy gushy gross. This is truly the creme de la creme of GF pastas. I even splurged and ordered the Fettuccine this time.
