Barely works
It worked briefly when it was first installed, but then it started having a lot of weird hiccups. There was one summer I could only access internet radio for a while and then it got stuck on one Spotify playlist. Now the app can see the receiver but when I click on it, the app fails to connect. Rebooting the receiver brings it back to life for a brief moment, but it's ultimately inaccessible again. Sad that such a nice piece of equipment is so faulty.

Worked and then it failed.
Worked fine for about a year and then it failed. Won't power on. Can't get in touch with the seller.

I installed the Niles MRC6430 in July and have been running it pretty-much everyday for the last 5 or 6 weeks. Without a doubt this is an elegant addition to our whole-home audio system. The software is flawless (I will quickly change my rating to 5-stars if Niles will provide a Windows-Mobile App); we are running the App on a Windows PC and three Android devices. Programming was straight-forward and easy. I did not use a System Integrator to set this up: I read the 128-page tutorial in about 30minutes, and then took another 30minutes to complete my set up. Easy! This is the successor to Niles' ZR6 which is what initially attracted me to Niles. ZR6 does not have the application software that MRC6430 has (requires keypads in every room), but I think Niles did cheap-out on MRC6430 by only including 4 amps instead of 6 (zones 5 & 6 are line-out only). As a result I had to purchase 2 of Niles' SI250 amplifiers to drive zones 5 & 6Getting the controller to turn off is a bit of a challenge but I think we have it down now: You must press the one-and-only front-panel button twice - with just the right amount of timing between each depression - and then wait about 20seconds for the unit to power off. The power ON cycle is quick and requires only one press of the button. I'm pretty sure Niles recommends leaving the unit on continuously, which I will do once I have my cooling fans in place. The unit does generate some heat.Niles makes a WiFi Remote for this (nHR200), but for $830 bucks I'm quite happy using my cell phone thank you very much. All in all... we wanted a system of WIRED speakers (shame on Bose and Sonos) in multiple zones that could be controlled through our home WiFi and MRC6430 delivered !!!

The sound is perfect. The controls are easy
It's incredible. I have two Apple AirPlay devices connected to it. Bose speakers in multiple rooms. The sound is perfect. The controls are easy. I love the recent software update that provides Internet radio built in as well as the ability to link Pandora and Spotify. The app and computer applications are easy to use and extremely functional. We have no wired keypads as we control everything through the app. Very satisfied customer!

Limited compatibility with latest high end receivers and other equipment. Had to dig to find software setup. Manual needs clarity.

Do not buy this product
Niles no longer supports this device and the software/app that controls it. I have had two of these since 2015. Both stopped working. In the beginning, I was able to work with Niles customer support. They got me up and running again. But eventually, it stopped working again. I have had independent audio specialists come out work with it. I bought additional amps. After we couldn't get the first one to start working again. It would work for a month or so, then stop. We gave up and bought another one for $1400. This one stopped working after about 2 months. Again, 3 times had someone come out and look at it. Called Niles customer support. This time, support was basically useless and they told me that the software/app is no longer supported. This system works through the app, so it is useless. 5 years, $3000 later, I bought a different system, Juke 8.

Meh. Was awesome in 2015, but very dated now
Setup is not difficult, but there are a great many things that work very poorly. It was advertised as able to control my Denon receiver. No go. It has a logitech internal media server that is supposed to let you use Pandora. Doesn’t seem to work anymore. I think that support has pretty much dried up for the unit and Sonos is taking over. RIP Niles Audio

Two failures in under 5 years - lost half of my zones.
We installed two MRC6430s as part of a new home construction in late 2015. Immediately, one of the main zones on one of the units started hissing and popping. I contacted Niles and they told me I could send the unit in (at my expense) and they would repair it - but I would be without the unit for several weeks. We decided it was less inconvenient to just buy an external amp and use one of the pre-amp zones (each unit has four amped zone outputs and two pre-amp zone outputs) - as we only needed 10 zones.BUT - about 2 months ago we cycled the power on the units and one of them (the master, unfortunately) didn't come back up - instead showing a blinking light that indicated that the main processor had failed. So after being forced to do a factory reset on the 2nd unit (the slave) and re-updating the firmware through several versions, I am left with only 5 total zones (yes, the zone that originally failed happened to be on the slave unit!).I will be replacing the remaining functional unit with a solution from another company.Disappointed and do not recommend.
