Wow! Fantastic Cooking Spoon
This is what all other cooking spoons should be like. I really doubt you will find a better one anywhere. Very sturdy. Great feel and weight. What can I say but this is the perfect cooking spoon.

Good Solid Turner; Synthetic on Underside of Handle
This item costs double what I would pay at my local supermarket, but it is a much better product, too. Most of it is a single piece of good, solid steel. The underneath side of the handle is a black synthetic material, probably silicon, which is a little sad because I wanted a turner that Ox, the oversized beagle pup, could not destroy. He's a big boy and can reach almost anywhere on the kitchen counter and in the sink. The dishes don't always get done right after dinner, and that hound has gone through 3 good turners, which he drags into the living room and buries in his favorite quilt on the sofa to snack on later when nobody's looking. So the single-piece steel construction was what attracted me. Let that dog try to eat this one, I thought.Had I looked more carefully at the photograph--and it's true that this site is notorious for posting photos of something other than the product being sold, but in this case it's exactly correct, as of this review date--I would have seen the black material beneath, just on the handle. It does provide for a pleasanter heft, easier on the hand than if it was all steel, and it will probably suit your needs just fine. But I myself would have been even happier if it had just been one block of stainless steel and nothing else. All told, this is a great tool for a person that cooks often using cookware that doesn't have a nonstick interior, and that doesn't have a utensil-stealing pup in the house. I have other turners that I use for my nonstick pans, but this one is good for my Calphalon and Revere Ware skillets and saute pans. I would buy this turner again if it came down to it...and with Ox in the house, it may.

NOT JUST A LADLE
I use this for EVERYTHING! It turns out this ladle is the perfect size for all manner of things - measuring out pancake batter, spooning pasta sauce into lasagna layers, splitting cake batter between two cake pans, this one ladle has made a long laundry list of cooking tasks so much simpler and much less messy. As someone who does a lot of online shopping, I am all too familiar with buyer's remorse, so when I buy something that I get a LOT of use out of and that I really really love, I feel the complete opposite - almost like buyer's satisfaction or buyer's rejoice. This ladle has a great weight to it, and a really great design - there's even a little metal patch at the base of the handle for the ladle to rest against the side of a pot without risking melting the rubberized backing of the ladle. I've bought quite a few kitchen items from OXO and they have yet to disappoint. My financial situation permitting, I'm planning on slowly replacing my non-OXO kitchen items with their OXO counterparts - they're well worth their price and last forEVER, plus they almost always make cooking tasks easier and more efficient.

The Perfect Cooking, Stirring and Serving Slotted Spoon (and I Also Found the Perfect Spoon Rest for It!)
I absolutely LOVE this spoon and also the unslotted one! Generally speaking, I like to use big wooden spoons when cooking, however they shouldn't go in the dishwasher, and sometimes I just want to be able to cook, stir, serve, and throw stuff in the dishwasher. And I HATE PLASTIC utensils! So, I searched for a stainless steel stirring and serving spoon that was just right, and just the right size, for using when cooking, stirring, serving, etc., and while I was at it I also wanted a similar slotted spoon - and this was it!(This is the non-slotted version that I also bought: OXO SteeL Serving Spoon, 4-Inch - they are nearly identical except for the slots versus no slots.)These spoons are *perfect*! Great, comfy handles (padded, easy to grip, great for stirring at the stove), a good-sized bowl, and nice looking if you are going to use them for serving! Just everything about them is perfect!By the way, I have also discovered that the Oggi spoon rest (this one: Oggi 5429.2 Ceramic Spoon Rest) fits them *perfectly*!

Good spoon
I make a lot of iced tea and use these spoons predominatly for that purpose. I have one of the spoons that was an earlier design of the same OXO spoon and the bowl on that one is a separate welded piece and after pouring boiling water over it when making tea, it finally came loose, so I ordered two of these spoons. I love that these spoons are made out of a single piece of steel and there is no weld like on the old model of this spoon. The handle grips nicely and that is also a nice feature. One design change that I'm not wild about, is that on the back of the spoon, it has raised channels where it takes more time to wash it (I have to hand wash, so I noticed it). If you dish out something like mashed potatoes or maccaroni and cheese, it's a good spot for food to get stuck in it. I just use it for making iced tea, so it works great for me.

I've been using this for years and it works great!
I can be pretty hard on my spatulas. I use cast iron and I push down on things hard. This is not one of those cheap thin metal things you get at the dollar store, this won't bend and break on you with normal use. It's a solid piece of metal through the whole shaft. Also, the blade is a good thickness: sturdy not to break or bend, but thin enough to actually get under things. The reason I'm buying a second one is I'm going through a divorce and my wife insisted on keeping the good spatula because it's so awesome and I don't blame her! Mostly I use this for whole grain pancakes on cast iron, but it works well for meat too. I don't use anything but cast iron and steel, and obviously, you wouldn't want to use this on a non stick surface!

Very handy in my kitchen
I appreciate the quality of this lifter and will use it for years to come; I hand wash it after use to ensure it comes clean every time; the finish isn't chrome and so food has to be brushed off. However, it works very well. It was likely more expensive than most lifters; however, there is nothing on it to wear out and I won't have to worry about such things as a plastic handle falling off. Great purchase.

Sturdy as
Sturdy, easy to clean (dishwasher friendly) and a great price. I love OXO and have never had any issues with their kitchen utensils. It's a great slotted spatula/turner.

Super!
