Cereal Might Be Good, But
It's unfortunate, as I did not even get to try it. Whoever shipped the box just slapped a huge UPS sticker on the original manufacture's box of the product, instead of putting the product in another box and then adding the shipping label. As a result, everything on the back of the box (potential nutritional info, cooking instructions, blurbs, etc.) was completely obscured. These individual boxes are not that sturdy, and I highly doubt they're made to be shipped "as is" without extra protection, so I'm lucky I received the product at all. Not only that, but when I opened the box to use the product, it smelled very strongly of laundry detergent, which more than likely means it was stored next to or close by cleaning supplies/chemicals. I asked several family members to take sniffs and tell me what it smelled like; they said it smelled of laundry detergent as well. I just dumped the whole thing in the trash. While I might try the brand again, I will not buy from the same vendor.

Tricky to cook but good at a decent price
Much cheaper than Cream of Wheat (and I do not remember Cream of Wheat being so crazy expensive back in the day, but now it's more than a dollar a serving). However, it can be tricky to cook without lumps or without having to clean the microwave afterward. Microwaving it is a bad, messy idea and cooking it in a pot tends to give you a lot of lumps. However, this worked great: 1. Heat water in a teakettle until it boils. 2. Add Cream of the West powder to a pot. 3. Add boiling water to the pot, stirring to keep it from clumping. Add enough water to continue cooking in the pot on medium heat for 2-3 more minutes until it is done. Result: non-clumpy, tasty farina. Voila.

Oh my, this is so awesome!
So as an old, fat American I am looking to add healthier eating in my routine and I'm super excited I found Cream of the West! It's whole wheat so it has lots of fiber and is nutritious, perfect for what I need! And it tastes so much better than comparable hot cereals or rolled/steel cut oats. Also since it's ready in 3 minutes instead of 10 - 20 for the whole oats. I wish I could find it locally, but I guess I'll just have to order it by the gross or something, :-)

Good flavor, much better than regular Cream of Wheat
Unlike supermarket Cream of Wheat, this cereal is entirely whole wheat which means you get all of the flavor and fiber. Less likely to clump than the supermarket kind, and unlike the supermarket 'instant' versions, it contains no added salt (you can add it yourself) and it doesn't have the odd flavor of instant potatoes. Still, the creaminess is still there. Great product from the state of Montana!

No indication in any description that this is rolled hot cereal
I was looking for a hot cereal like Bob's Red Mill 7-grain Hot Cereal, but this is rolled. Neither the Amazon or package mention rolled cereal at all! I already have a lot of rolled multigrain cereal and didn't need more. It must be pre-cooked because it does cook quickly, which can be convenient if you are in a hurry. Please write an accurate description!!! There is too much lying and misdirection these days to have to worry about your breakfast cereal!

Simple cowboy breakfast
Cream of the West comes in a box with Western-themed illustrations. It profusely and evocatively makes one nostalgic for crisp cold mornings in Montana and Wyoming, and simple cowboy breakfast. Cream of the West is a delicious and flavorful cereal mixture. It stands out in contrast to the numerous sugar-infused cereals in grocery stores. The box is small and it is expensive but you do not have to cook much for it to satisfy.

Wheat Hearts replacement
This is the whole grain version of Cream of Wheat—much yummier. It’s a bit like comparing whole wheat bread and white bread. It tastes just like I remember Wheat Hearts from my childhood.

Healthy way to start the day!
Friends from Montana gave me a box of the organic 7-grain cereal in a Christmas package, and I've fallen in love with it. High in fiber and protein, and low in salt, it's a heart healthy way to start the day. A side benefit is that purchases help to maintain jobs in a small rural Montana town (Harlowton) where the Cream of the West factory was moved from Billings years ago.
