Hydraulic Copper Pipe Crimping Tool 1/2-1"

The tool is awesome, but be aware: if you have a tight space or lot of tee-s you might have an issue. I was able to replace existing plumbing, but had a snag on the first tee. Tee can be crimped ONLY in one specific position, when the long part of the tee goes in parallel with the tool. It makes a job a little bit trickier, so I had to assemble some parts of the line on the ground, and because of this had a couple of wasted fittings. I will probably return this tool but only to get a newer thinner version of it. Also note, that tool opens from one side only, this is where it may create issues in forked branches or tight spaces. I’m happy with result, but would like the tool even more if I read reviews before buying. Will see how the line holds up.

Was doing a bath remodel and had some copper coming out of the floor and wanted to do my finish work in pex. This did the trick. Was very easy to use. Connectors can be found at all the big box stores. Took me seconds to do what would take a while sweating on connectors. Pressure tested for a day and no leaks. Seems like a well built tool, very sturdy, dies seem to fit the connectors great, not too heavy.

I just purchased this and used it to install a hot water heater. Since this was a different type of water heater there were a lot of moving the pipes to new locations and a lot of new connections and this device made it so simple, quick and easy. I love it. I hate sweating pipes and this removed that as an issue. I did have to go back and repress one connection but no big deal, I probably didn't press hard enough the first time. This is so much a time/money saver. Two notes - the manual needs a better English proof reader as it obviously was not written by someone who knows English. Also, the manual says to replace the hydraulic oil once a year - really? Also, if you go this way for connecting pipes remember that the fittings are much more expensive that regular copper fittings - but that is not the fault of this device. I will also note to buy the fittings on-line as in store there is a huge markup. Finally, buy this, it is well made, very substantial, and gets the job done well. Buying it only cost me a few dollars more than renting it at the local HD so go and buy this. I love it!

I just got through using this tool on my shower plumbing, all 1/2" copper tubing and used Viega ProPress fittings. It is a little tricky in some tight situations because you not only have to have room for the tool, but also room for pumping the handle. If you have the room, it does an excellent job. Not a single leak, no problem with 90 degree fittings. One of the really handy things about using these fittings, you don't have to have a dry connection like you do when soldering. I actually had a small flow of water when I crimped on the new shutoff valve. The only reason I took 1 star off is because the pipe cutter included in the kit is junk, in my opinion. To get an electric tool to do the same job will cost $1,000 and more.

Perfect for the DIY. Used it to install Several press copper connectors and a ball valve. Work perfectly. It is a pretty beefy tool. But still fits into relatively tight locations. It is kind of heavy so when using overhead can tax the arms a little bit but not a big deal. Considering a cordless version of this tool is in the neighborhood of eight or $1000 at this Price point it's an awesome alternative for something you only have to do a couple times a year. It seems to be made very very well. If you have to call a plumber to do a simple repair this pays for it self on the first use. And, no chance of burning your house down. Comes in a nice case as well. also a kit of spare parts, o rings etc.

First time propress user, this tool made it easy It doesn't take that much strength to get a perfect crimp. I am redoing a bathroom and after installing the shower faucet NO LEAKS. The only downside of this is the large head, you must be creative when working in tigh spaces. I recommend this tool.

I bought this to begin a conversion from old leaking piping to pex A. The unit is heavy and seems to be well built. However, I had to use it in a crawl space under my house and with a bad shoulder it was very difficult for me to exert the pressure required to use it properly. I was able to complete one fitting under the house. It worked well. This would be great for the occasional user with easy access to the plumbing (or a younger me) Unfortunately, for me, no workie. I would have rated it a 5 because it worked as advertised but I was not able to remove the sizing adapter (nomenclature?) after I used it. I’ll have to return it and buy a powered unit.

Does what it's supposed to do for the price. Only real quirk is orientation... for T-fittings you have to position the tool a specific way or it'll damage the fitting during the press. Learned that one the hard way. One thing I still can't fully explain. I had a pipe come out angled even though the sharpie depth line didn't move. I test fit every single fitting before marking, so I know they were seated properly. Doesn't affect function, just looks kills a perfect photo 😂. Is it cheaper than soldering? On fittings alone, no. Press fittings ran me $42 vs $12 for solder on the same job. But if you're starting from zero with no tools, a torch kit + solder supplies from HD runs about $101, and this press kit was $102. The press kit also comes with a pipe cutter and deburring tool (saves you about $20 buying those separately), and the cost difference basically disappears. Soldering has a learning curve too. It's not brutal, but it's real. Im in construction and I have seen plumbers have leaks. They dont always show up right away which is why pressure test are important. I have also see and tried all methods. Pex A, B, CPVC, Soldering, and now copper press. If I'm choosing between copper press, PEX, or CPVC, I'm going copper press every time. If i had to pick press vs soldering it would depend on the job.. and if I had one of those fancy tools that do the press automatically. Press has been around for awhile. I get people concern with the O-ring but anything can leak in 20-30 years.

Works as described. If you are new to this system pay attention to what fittings you crimp first as the head is bulky and doesn't fit well in tight spaces. Overall, it's an excellent tool I just wish it had an indicator to know when your fully crimped but then it would most likely cost more. One thing I found (probably because I crimp until it bottoms out) is that the one die always sticks to the fittings after I crimp. For the amount of plumbing I do, it is very minor.

This looks to be a well made unit, and the hydraulic pump seems to work well . However the dies are the wrong size for standard Australian copper crimp fittings . This makes the unit useless in Australia.

I ordered a crimping tool for copper pipe fittings and ended up with a webber bbq replacement burners. If this is how fully automated factories work then there is going to be a lot of stuff ups. Also they’re hanging onto your money for several weeks a good way to make interest on your money while you have lost interest on your money.

Great for small jobs but care needs to be taken to keep everything lined up. Overall I’m fairly pleased.

Does not fit Australian Viega fittings. Complete waste of time and money!
