This is a fantastic product. I have a young Pit who is, shall we say, a bit energetic and anxiety prone. She currently has to be crated when we are out and when we are here is overly rambunctious. She is actually overly loving and this make s her a bit difficult to work with (especially in the eyes of the other dogs and cat). With this supplement she is much calmer and not so extreme with her loving making her a joy to be with. It really doesn't take away her personality and doesn't sedate her. She isn't terribly upset with her crate to begin with but we hope that her chewing will improve enough with this product so she can be left unsupervised for longer and longer periods of time.

It helps my anxious cat when I need to give him subq fluids or trim his claws. I don't think any supplement is strong enough for this particular cat for vet visits since he's absolutely terrified when he goes there, but these do really help for things like bad thunderstorms, claw trimming, subq fluids, and other more normal stressors. He also seems to like the taste. I was a little worried the first time because he sniffed it and thought about it for a few seconds, but once he tried it, he gobbled it up. It's easy to break the tablets, also. Next time I need to trim my relatively feral girl's claws I'll try these, and if she likes them as well, I'll revise to 5 stars. She's much more suspicious about "treats" smelling different, so she'll be even more of a test ;)Pros:1. Breaks easily.2. Easy to administer - at least one of my cats that needs it likes it, other hasn't tried it yet.3. Takes the edge off for him so he doesn't go nuts when a thunderstorm parks itself right on top of us, or when I have to trim his claws or give subq fluids.Cons:1. Dextrates (sugar) as first inactive ingredient. Would love to see a safe non-sugar binder, even though it's probably not a big issue for a non-diabetic cat.Overall, pleased with these as well as the packing, shipping, and tracking from Kala Health.

I have two cats that started fighting ever since a cat that roams the neighborhood decided that our backyard was also his. They are worst at night (literally fighting like alley cats in my living room, including spraying), so I usually use a product similar to this with their food at night so that they sleep and leave each other, not to mention us, alone. I have used two other products that I felt were better. In a pinch, I would go back to using these, but for now I am currently still searching for the perfect solution in a natural, calming agent.

My cats, who like most everything I out in front of them, smelled it and immediately walked away and sneezed signaling their disgust for it. I guess it's not for every pet. I'm sure other pets may enjoy it.

I ordered CalMix because I have a very fearful, stressed out cat who is attacking her companion and has to be kept separate. Unfortunately, the tablets are HUGE and have a very strong, herbal smell. I offered the entire tablet to my cat, hoping she'd like the smell and eat it, but she refused it. Normally, I use 'pill pockets' when I have to give my cats tablets, so I tried to cut a CalMix tablet into smaller pieces using a pill-cutter, but I ended up with lots of chunks and 'crumbs'. Even when hidden in the 'pill pockets', my cat refused to eat CalMix. This product seems more appropriate for dogs (the enormous tablets are chewable) than for cats. I'm not sure if a dog would like the strong herbal smell/taste; however, if you have an anxious dog and, like me, are pretty desperate, I'd give it a try; not for cats, though.

Purchased this for our miniature schnauzer who has extreme anxiety - mainly separation anxiety. We have tried several other formulas (bach flowers, etc.) and this one is the first product that actually works. It is a life saver! He loves the flavor, so no problem giving him the chewable tab. After taking it, he is much calmer, doesn't pant and bark when I leave the room, but still plays and runs around with our other dog as usual. I am very thankful to have found this product!

I have a lab that had surgery at 7 months for elbow dysplasia. At the time he was about 50 pounds. His recovery lasted 3+ months. During this time we had to keep him inactive. Not an easy task. He had reactions to Acepromazine (sedative) after the first few weeks; it made him crazy. Then we tried Benadryl and that had a similar affect after a few weeks. We decided to give this a try. It worked pretty well. It didn't completely knock him him out and it didn't change his lab puppy nature, but seemed to make him more focused. He would chew on his bone rather than my couch pillows, then take a short nap. We introduced this about 6 weeks after his surgery, when we could start taking him on short, controlled walks again, so he was getting some exercise. The calming affect of CalMix is short lived with him; 3 hours at most. I also noticed, the more we used it, the less affect it had, so we would take a break from it every few days, as stated on the label. He is recovered now, 13 months old and 65 pounds, but still keep it on hand, and use it on occasion for long road trips.

The only brand calming herb I will use. These pills really work when others have failed. They contain Valerian herb as the first ingredient which works to calm down my dogs when anxious. Safe to use and the dogs will chew it easily. Highly recommend.
