Oh, yeah I like these
I have not seen any reviews on the Epro so I will give it a go. For one, I love and prefer acoustic drums. Due to my, or should I say my band's issue with my volume, I was forced to go electronic and played a set of Rolands for 2 years. They were certainly okay with the limitations of mediocre sounds. I also hated the look (how egotistical) of playing on little pads. I was very excited to play with better sounds and the real look of drums...so now the review. These Epro drums look really great and sound much improved over my Rolands (which I am now selling). Yes, out of the box the sounds were not perfect but spending time with the redbox allows for some real flexibility and I now have the sounds I have craved with the volume my bandmates so desire. The best compliment I can give is that the drums fooled a drummer in the audience who loved my sound and thought I was playing a real kit. Will this replace real drums, no but is the ideal for a gigging drummer who needs to play in smaller places or just wants control. Flexibility, sounds and looks- who can ask for anything more. Go get em guys(and no, I do not work for Pearl but if they would like to send me a check-so be it).

GREAT kit honestly!
I read the poor reviews on here and some other places. The review from A.Tyler is particularly infuriating as he states he DOESN'T even own these. Let me start by saying I ordered the GREEN sparkle kit, ordered special order from Guitar Center and paid $1700 with plastic cymbals shipped to the store including tax. The kit looks FANTASTIC. GORGEOUS green with high quality hardware and really really pretty drums with white True Head electronic pads. It did take me some time with help from a buddy to set it all up perfectly, but once it was done they sounded and looked amazing. The sounds are really good and 2 professional drummer friends of mine loved how they sound and felt. Although the heads don't exactly feel like real drum heads the feel is REALLY NICE and the rebound is well engineered. I have a Roland and Elesis DM10X. The 10x is most like real drum heads but they feel harder and a bit harsher then real heads and don't feel as nice as the Pearls. Yes the Pearl toms ARE wraps. SO WHO THE HELL CARES. Why in the hell wouldn't they wrap them?. They look great so why spend tons more money to custom make the shells. The shells are the exact same material as the Pearl EXPORT Series acoustic drums which are Pearls best selling acoustic drums that sound and look great and are played by MANY MANY professional musicians all over the world. If I sound a bit irritated I am. The complaints on this kit are just idiotic. The guy who has had 4 Red Box replacements in 2 years must hit the damn thing with a hammer regularly because it IS the same box as the DM10X for the most part and that is a damn good piece of equipment. Everyone including myself who has had it has NEVER had a single problem with it. People seem to expect perfection from Pearl. They are tops in the business. These may not be perfect but as far as I'm concerned they are damn good, actually very good and are clearly the best electronic kit out there for any price. If you can get them for under $2000 grab them. I can't imagine any good reasonable drummer not loving them, unless of course your goal is to just bitch and moan about them because either you can't afford them or you simply love to hate something because your a miserable angry musician who can't make a cent doing what you love. My opinion of course, but if you love to play, this is the electronic set to do it with. Have fun and love what you do!.

Stay away from these!
For full disclosure, I will mention up front that I don't own a set of these drums. The reason I don't own them is because they are very poor quality. The reviewer before me who said they are not ready for prime time said it best. My church is moving into a new building and re-vamping our a/v setup, so we are looking for a new set. I went to check these out at my local GC and here is what I found:1) They sound awful. This is the most important aspect of any set, and this is where these fail most. I heard samples online, which sounded bad to me, but I thought maybe they translated better in person. They didn't. After getting back to my office, I learned that the module these drums use is the same as the one that comes on an $800 Alesis set, just painted red. Alesis is the Yugo of drum modules, in my opinion.2) The drum triggers are just rubber pads. You cannot tell this from the photos, so I was surprised to learn that these feel like you are playing on an old rubber digital set. They felt awful. You expect some compromise if you are springing for a digital set over an acoustic set, but these are old technology. Roland still leads the pack here.3) The ride cymbal did not choke. The sales rep said it was supposed to, but it didn't. Evidently some of the inputs on the module do not support the "choke" feature.4) The hi-hat triggered erratically. When I would lower my foot to choke the hi-hat for typical play, it gave a crash sound instead.5) The rim triggers are zoned. Basically this means you have to hit the rim triggers in very specific spots to use them. This may be useful for some players, but I could not get even one of them to trigger.6) The shells look like toys. Appearance is least important for my purposes, but some may find this off-putting. Rolands don't look very good, either, so I guess this is a draw. Conclusion: Pearl ought to be ashamed for charging $3,200 for an $800 Alesis drum set with cheap shells. I can't believe they put their name on these. If you absolutely cannot use an acoustic set, stick with a Roland set. Their bottom-of-the-line set is miles ahead of these Pearls in sound, playability, and reliability. My church will not be buying the Pearls.
