Bulova was trained as a jeweler, and his expertise carried over into his watchmaking career, which began around 1911 with boudoir clocks and pocket watches, and soon evolved to include what was then one of the latest and most fashionable technological innovations: the wristwatch. Bulova introduced its first line of wristwatches in 1919. The company grew and prospered, and soon early radio and television ads were declaring, "America runs on Bulova time." In the 1950s, continuing its legacy of innovation, Bulova introduced Accutron, the first electronic watch, and the first breakthrough in timekeeping technology in over 300 years. The Accutron timing mechanism was later adapted for use by NASA computers and a Bulova timer was even placed on the moon to control transmissions of data. Bulova timepieces have kept official time aboard Air Force One and have also served as official timepieces for U.S. Olympic teams. Today, Bulova maintains its tradition of excellence in technology and design, offering a diverse collection of beautiful precision timepieces for every occasion. See more

Beautiful watch!
I've wanted a good dive watch for a while but a Rolex Submariner or Omega Seamaster is way out of my price range. I started looking for something more affordable and the Bulova Marine Star line caught my eye. I was torn between this model and the 98C62. Both seem to be a cross between the Submariner and Seamaster, with this one a bit more like the Rolex and the 98C62 a bit more like the Omega. The watch is beautiful in person and the pics here on Amazon don't do it justice. The blue is much deeper than in the pics, though not quite a navy blue. The middle of the band along with some accents on the face are shiny, contrasting nicely with the brushed case and outer parts of the band. The only thing I'd change about the look would be to put the date window in the 3 o'clock position but that's really no big deal. It's a good size, though perhaps a bit big if you have a smaller wrist, and there's enough weight to know you're wearing it without being bogged down. Also, purchasing the watch though Amazon couldn't have been easier. The price was better than ebay and you still have a warranty so that gives some piece of mind. I got the watch within 24 hours of placing my order via Amazon Prime. I can't recommend this watch enough. I got a few compliments in just the first few days wearing it!

Cool and Elegant Watch
This is such Beautiful watch from every angle. I have owned a Rolex Dress watch and a Tag Heuer watch andthis has to be the most elegant and affordable watch that looks like a million bucks. Men be the standoutout at a cocktail party with this Bulova 98B130 Marine Star blue watch. This watch has a nice wave inlay likethe Omega Seamaster watch and the dial is darker then the picture looks much better in real The band is a great quality and the Bezel turns quite smooth The watch is not that not that heavy like other diver watches. The night lumination is quite dim. My Bulova watchhas kept track of time so far after owning it a week. Overall this watch is Great Watch that will go with dress orcasual clothes . This is one my collector watches .

Smallish but sharp
After mulling over the black-dialed Marine Star for a while, I scoured the internet for its blue-dialed cousin. The watch arrived more quickly than I anticipated with impressive packaging and paperwork. The watch is good-looking with a rich blue color and orange accents that I love. The textured area within the dial really sets it apart. The bezel is stiff but precise (i.e., I can't stand when other watches never quite align with the 60-minute mark). Beware the crown, which must be screwed in or out when adjusting. The screw-down crown is a nice feature so long as you're expecting it; otherwise you might go crazy trying to push or pull it. If I have any reservation at all, it is with respect to the watch's relatively diminutive size. At 45 mm case diameter, I would describe the watch as having a more "classic" appearance. However, modern men's style dictates larger, chunkier watches, and this watch feels tiny compared to the others I'm used to wearing lately. In fact, as women's watch sizes continue increasing, I'm afraid my Marine Star will begin looking less manly. I recently showed off my new purchase to three of my watch-connoisseur buddies, and while I thought mine looked really cool next to theirs, the size of mine induced feelings that I don't think even Freud could explain. I'm hoping that chunky men's watches will suddenly go horribly out of style so that I can have the last laugh because I otherwise love this watch.

Great Watch w/Unsurpassed Bulova Quality
I'd read others' reviews of this watch and I'm glad I did. The original picture of the watch at Amazon displayed the watch in a very bright blue color, while the actual color is nowhere near that bright. It's much darker blue than the picture showed. To make sure, I went to Bulova.com with the model number and their photo was much truer to the watch I received. It's just the right color blue, not too bright, not too dark.I love wearing this watch! The weight and size all feel very good on my wrist. The offset date display (between the "4" and "5" markers on the face) is unique, and really makes the watch stand apart from the oh-so-common date displays at the "3" marker. So far, the watch is keeping accurate time and, as a daily-wear watch, it remains comfortable on my wrist. I like the additional lock on the latch which makes me feel very confident the watch is stay on, especially whenever my hand is draped out my car window on a sunny day.I change off between a Citizen Eco-Drive watch and this one, which always reminds me that I will, at some point, have to change the battery in this Bulova. I wish it had the same Eco-Drive feature as my Citizen so I'd never have to mess with a battery-swap, but for the looks and quality of the Bulova, I'll deal with it whenever it's time for a new battery. In the meantime, I'd highly recommend this watch as one that looks like it costs hundreds or thousands of dollars more than it does, and one you'll enjoy wearing!

5 years later and still holding strong
I bought this watch 5 years ago as a wedding gift to myself. 5 years later and after tons of use it is still holding up. It's been on international treks up cliffs and through caves and ruins and has plenty of scratches to prove it, but has not lost time or had any issues aside from superficial scars.

beautiful watxh
This was a very challenging purchase with the first order being canceled by Amazon in error, they did not know what was what.. 5 custopmer service errors... multilple promisses unkept, I was shocked by the absolute inability to A. see the error when watch did not ship and B Inability to fix withour me re ordering and C... inability to address the issue, WHERRE IS MY WATCH? In all fairness Amazon has been fantastic prior to this..Now...The watch is nice, very pretty. I own several dive watches, this my be one of the prettiest. As a Bulova I expect the time keeping will be perfect in a quartz...the screw down crown is top notch..Minus one star for the bezel.. hard to turn... not as nice as the band which is a high quality band... so B+ for the watch even with an F for serviceIf you are looking for a slightly larger cases with a blue face... its stunning

Very impressed so far
Like others I have been looking for a value alternative to a Seamaster/Submariner as I really am not in that sort of league. I have spent many hours checking out possible candidates. I got it down to the Orient Mako and the Bulova Marine Star. Whilst I think I might well end up with a Mako I'm very happy with the Bulova that arrived today. Why did I choose the Bulova? I've read review after review and as has been said elsewhere, I recommend reading the reviews on the American Amazon site which in the end convinced me to jump down on the Bulova side of the fence. The look of the watch is just what I want, it is stunning. To emphasise the point about the colour it is much deeper and looks much better than in the picture on Amazon; try the official Bulova site for the best image. The only trouble is I can't wear it for a month as I bought it for my wife to give to me for a birthday present!

Just what I wanted, a smart elegant watch that can be worn with casual or smart attire at any time of the day (pun). A substantial item but not too heavy on the wrist. Stylish with a good appearance. Really pleased with this watch.

Okay but a bit disappointing
It's an OK quartz watch. I was expecting much more when I opened the box but to be honest it does not really have the wow factor. It is not small and it is not big. I agree that the colour blue is more of a Royal Blue than a Marine blue as many of the other reviews point out. There is no date magnifier and maybe this is what this watch is missing? It feels OK but the bezel is slightly stiff to rotate and the Bulova logo on the clasp is faint as though it has not been etched/stamped properly. It is certainly not the worst watch in my collection but not the best either. I have a Seapro automatic which is slightly smaller, almost the same colour, but does have a date magnifier. They look quite similar on the wrist and maybe this is why I am diappointed. Anyone who has not owned a similar watch in the past probably would be impressed as it is a quality item. If it is your only watch it is fine and you would probably not know the difference. I will probably wear it on occasions but I have better looking and feeling watches that I would prefer. I paid £99 for my watch which is about right. I would feel very hard done by if I had paid around the £160 mark - there are simply many watches that look and feel and are made better at this price.I am trying to be honest here and I do have a collection of about 100 watches to compare with.
