Totally Hopeless
If you have a garden and want a good strimmer to cut down weeds around lawns, and on driveways and paths you may be very disappointed with this. I thought a quality petrol strimmer would be just the job to replace my old corded electric one - but how wrong I was. The two main problems are this :-(1) it is very difficult to get it to cut the weeds off a driveway or path, the strimmer line sits too high(2) it is difficult to control the throttle - it is absolutely maddening - it always seems to want to go to max revs which is totally insanely loud and will likely scare your neighbors. The concentration in trying to keep the throttle at a lower level (which is all you should need for many weeding tasks) is absolutely intense, it is very difficult - you almost wonder why they bothered putting a throttle on it at all - they might as well have fixed it at max revs.So £200 down the drain for the strimmer plus the 2 stroke oil and the line and the fuel mixing bottle. What an absolute waste of money. I am just so disappointed.

Ding dang does the job.
A great lightweight, reliable strimmer. I wore my last one out. Highly recommended.

Easy to assemble and started on the 4 pull but you don't get much nylon line so it's worth buying a spool at the same time, saves postage for the second item

Line
With these strummers you can drill holes were the line goes in then the 3mm line wire will fit!!!

Poor Performance from Stihl
I have purchased on of these to use and the standard Stihl head is easy to load but only takes 2mm line as standard (which breaks very easily). You need to take the head apart and drill the holes to the thickness of the line that is your preference, which is a fairly easy job but obviously, the thicker the line, the less the head will take. Mine will take approx 2 x 2 meters or Nylinium 2.4mm cord. The strimmer itself seems incredibly powerful and noisy for its size but revs far higher and vibrates far more than my EFCO strimmer does and it is also incredibly THIRTSY in comparison. I've used over a litre of fuel today and would have used approx half of this amount using my regular strimmer, which was in for a service.Being 5ft 11 inches, it also seems about a foot too short and I have to bend down or turn it upside down for vertical edges which isn't ideal as you have less control. The FS50 model is longer and more suited to my height, if the Stihl demonstration videos on Youtube are anything to go by.Back to the head. It is not a true 'bump and go' system as you need to press the head button down firmly whilst turning the notches to release more line, which is rather an inconvenience. It is also very close to the ground and can 'dig in' with horrible consequences, particilarly for thick lawns.Stihl are highly regarded for as the best for chainsaws, hedge cutters and many other gardening tools, which leaves me very disappointed at the many faults that are prevalent with this model of strimmer. I will be selling mine as soon as possible as it just does not deliver on the promises made by the supplier or manufacturer.
