Milk Frothers Compared: Which is easiest to use and store?
We recently bought a Miroco stainless steel frothing pitcher with handle. Our new daily ritual is making fantastic cappuccinos and lattes that truly rival any top tier coffeehouse. The cappuccino we make easily every morning is even better than that famous overpriced “SB place.”COMPARING FROTHING PITCHER WITH HANDLE TO THIS HANDHELD VERSION:Mostly, the pitcher with handle is a pleasure to use. The foam is produces is airy, light and perfect. No complaints there. However, it’s larger than I’d anticipated and our cabinet space is at a premium. So, I decided to try this white handheld one, too. To see the two models next to each other, see my photo. Note that despite the size difference, the capacities of each are identical so it’s really about which is more convenient for you. The white one is thinner yet taller and has no handle. Let’s look at the similarities and differences:HAND HELD STYLE WITHOUT HANDLE:This version is fully insulated and tapered with an hourglass design. This gives it a comfortable area to grab in the middle for pouring. It’s a smart, compact design and easy to pour the foam into your cup. I worried this one would be hard to pour with no spout. But no pouring issues at all. As you can see, even with the exact same capacity, it’s not as wide and for us will be easier to find a spot in our jammed kitchen cabinet. The foam is produces is just like the pitcher with handle version: perfect. Which to choose comes down entirely to design preference.PITCHER STYLE WITH HANDLE:This style is undeniably beautiful so if you have extra space on your kitchen counter, I’d recommend this one. It matches many stainless appliances perfectly. Although it does have a pour spout, both designs pour acceptably.COMPARING THESE NEWER STYLE FROTHERS WITH WAND STYLE FROTHERS:I previously bought an easy to store wand style frother but ended up almost never using it. Why? It requires skim milk and we don’t drink it. Since you don’t need much milk for frothing, we would never even go through a quart before spoiling. With either of these Miroco models, any type of milk whips up beautifully frothy, just like the coffeehouse. We like whole milk but 2% is just as good.FROTHERS EASE OF USE:Mostly very good. You fill the frother to either of two fill levels, depending on how much of the bubbly, foamy stuff you need. The lower fill level is just right for two cups of coffee. I add milk to the lower fill line, turn on the Miroco and the milk swirls until bubbles form. Then in just about a minute and a half: . . . VOILA! Rich, light froth.TECHNIQUES FOR MAKING CAPPUCHINO AND LATTE:First, we brew quality drip coffee, then pour in some of the frothed foam, stirring it up. Then, for the final step, we spoon lots of light froth on top. This looks and tastes just like the best coffeehouse cappuccino. And, if you prefer latte, just use the same technique with less coffee, and more of the milk mixture. You can also just simply pourthe foamy mix into your coffee and it’s still a beautiful looking and tasty mix. Plenty of foam on top with this technique, too.CONVENIENCE AND CLEANING:Either model is relatively easy to use and clean. However, since the components are electric, be sure never to wash like the rest of the dishes. What works for me: I carefully fill the Miroco under the faucet, being sure no water runs down the side to get near the electrical components underneath. I pour out the water and repeat twice more. Then, a bit of the still sticky milk residue is left behind. I then take a couple of moist paper towels, wipe it out, and it’s ready for next use.MIROCO FROTHER SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT:The fill lines are embossed in the same non-stick dark grey color as the rest of the inside of the unit. The color is just like a nonstick pan. Even under good kitchen lights, these are hard to see. When doing a second batch of froth right after the first, you need to use a paper towel to uncover the fill lines, but this is not difficult. However, for next generation I hope the company will do the inner fill lines in a light contrasting color.FROTHER ADDITIONAL USES: COLD BREW AND COCOAThere is also a warm setting with no froth that lets you heat up milk for hot cocoa with no risk of scorching. Just enough room for one cup capacity for each quick heating. Happily, no scorching like on the stove! There is also a cold froth setting. We have a new Oxo cold brew coffee maker that we are quickly huge becoming fans of. The cold brew coffee along with cool frothed milk in the Miroco is excellent, too. And, you may not know that cold brew coffee keeps a week in the fridge and is also excellent mixed one part cold brew concentrate to three parts hot water. Frothed warm milk from the Miroco frother in combination with cold brew gives you almost instant cappuccino that still tastes like the best from any high end coffeehouse.Below I’ll include my review of the Oxo Cold Brew coffeemaker, and also the Miroco stainless steel frothing pitcher. I recommend both. It’s a personal decision on which is best for you. With our crazy crowded kitchen, I really like the compact one here without handle.Hope this has been of some small help to bring a little bit of foamy delight to your everyday routine. . . Wonder worker except for maintenance
I used the product to make frothy hot milk for my coffee to make it a latte @home; that part works wonderfully.BUT, the DOWNSIDE: very difficult to clean; while they do include a tiny brush (handle not long enough) too clean the intricate wired pieces which works well but could be longer; nevertheless, I find it very difficult to clean the inside especially if I have let the left-over amount in the stand (for a 2nd cup) for more than 15 minutes, it leaves a very scummy white looking stuff on bottom & sides. They advise not to use a brush with harsh bristles which I have yet to find. If I soak it in hot water, let it stand and then try a bottle brush (harsh bristles ) & a cloth to clean with great difficulty and not much success. Please advise the maker if possible or let me know how to contact them)Thank you, Amazon,

Quiet, fast, superb foam.
We've owned quite a few frothers and this is by far the best so far. I'm very impressed. We'll have to see how long it lasts (we use it 4 times a day) but if it holds up, this is wonderful machine.1) Fast. Cold water to micro-foam in just over a minute.2) So quiet you don't know it's on except for an indicator light. Beeps to tell you when finished, which is helpful.3) Extremely fine foam that pours beautifully -- you can make latte art.4) (BEST FEATURE). After pouring, you can immediately start foaming again without waiting for the machine to cool.5) Very attractive design. And teflon interior is easy to clean.6) Extra whisk included -- stays in the lid for safekeeping.Maybe the only downside is that it's hard to remove the whisk if you have large hands. Still, that is likely not to be a problem because it can be cleaned well without removing.

New, improved model
Update to original review:I was offered the new model for free to reconsider my evaluation of the product. The new model scolds a bit less, possibly as much as any other frother. A thin film forms in the bottom, which happens with all forthers I have tested. The new model is a competitive product, worth trying.Original review for white model:Very pretty, minimal, but requires more cleaning than others (scalds at the bottom). Returning it.

Quiet and fast milk frother
This is an incredible milk frother compared the one attached to my KRUP espresso machine which is hot steam operated. The KRUP's steam frother is very loud and does not make fluffy froth. I love this Miroco milk frother. It's very quiet and fast. You can put the milk in and just walk away. When it's ready, it beeps. It makes warm super fluffy froth or mediun froth or just cold froth. I love to drink warm almond milk and soy milk in the winter and it can also warm up the milk within minutes with the warming function. In the past, I used a pot to warm up the milk, but it always spilled everywhere when I forgot to turn off the stove. The Miroco milk frother will automatically shut off when the milk is warmed up. It warms up at the right temperature, not boiling hot. I don't like to use microwave because of the radiation, so this is a plus. I use this machine every day to make cappuccino. No more expensive Starbucks.

Nice compact milk frother
Previously I wrote that the frother wasn't frothing and I had to send it back. I had sent the manufacturer 2 emails asking for their help and they never got back to me. HOWEVER! The manufacturer did get back to me about a month ago. I got a very nice email giving me options for another unit, credit or gift card. They really bent over backwards to make sure I was happy. Since I do like the unit, I asked for a new one. I don't have a lot electric appliance storage, so I didn't want one with a handle (takes up more room). I have a hand-held, battery frother (a whisk really). I can tell you the Miroco Electric Milk Steamer makes MUCH BETTER foam than the hand held. It's denser and lasts for the entire cup of coffee unless I decide to slurp the foam before I can drink it all. I'd say if you're looking for a unit that warms the milk and makes good foam, you can't go wrong with the Miroco Electric Milk Steamer.
