Magical States of Consciousness: Pathworking on the Tree of Life (Llewellyn's Inner Guide) Paperback – August 8, 2012

It is very hard to read and understand . I bought several of the denning and phillips "how to" set. It seems in magical states of consciousness the authors were worried about using fancy pants vocabulary that no one else uses. For example: Salubrious, or "ambivalence is enthroned". Books on spiritual enlightenment are usually hard enough to get a handle on, especially when they introduce new concepts and ideas. This one was written in a manner that neither helps one understand or that is necessary to explain. Prepare to get you vocabulary expanded. Even at the cost of your valuable time and energy. Even over content atleast on page 14. If (when finished) I can walk on water and recite the dictionary I will edit my comment.

This book is not to be taken lightly. If you are serious about changing your life in a positive way and are not afraid to confront your own ideology this is the way. The readings in this book offer and deeply life altering and mind bending exploration of archtypes in collective consciousness. Follow the directions in a pristine manner. Be aware of the timing of your readings. I recommend you read the path workings in a group setting.You will be impacted in ways you cannot imagine. Do not enter into reading this frivolously -it is a serious tome of extreme impact.

I found this book interesting. To know one self is and axciom "man know thyself " but how does man get to know himself. It's through meditation that we achieve this self awareness. It's not a new idea just one that has been written mystically . We are so far away our true nature that we see and read about it and not understand . How to become conscious of our surroundings. This book is a path to this realization (divine).

This is an actual manual, complete with incantations of magical rites. The philosophical and metaphysical implications are pretty wonderful and it's letting me explore new horizons. As for the incantation and rituals... They may just awake you...I'm still working on it.

This is a great book if you are going to be using it in a group setting, but if you are working the paths by yourself I'd pass.The subject matter is very detail oriented and not easy to read and then take to your meditating area.I personally needed a description of the path, symbols and temple, then let my imagination/meditative state fill in the rest.The work here is just to much and detailed, not allowing the deep states of consciousness to work with what comes to the individual mind.Again, this is a worthwhile book, but for solo work I'd recommend Ted Andrews material on the subject. Also yeshshem dot com is an excellent source for kabbalistic material. He's not on the magic side, but great for meditation work and overall knowledge.

This book was for my husband and he didn't started it yet. But he is very happy to have it as he was after it for a long time!

A wonderful guide to an often hard to find technique for personal initiation and development.
