Persona

An interesting spin on a jrpg franchise that was adapted into a movie. For fans of the games this movie has a few teasers that connect it to the games to make it worth watching. A certain butterfly mask even makes an appearance. At the same time the storyline is a standalone completely cutting out any mystical elements from the game. Sorry folks this movie doesn't have the mental mind benders and astrology/tarot mumbo jumbo or dimensional, conscious subconscious ride the game puts you into. Instead this movie is more science flavored with just enough drama and action to go along with a plot that's only good for the nostalgia goggles if you've played the any game in the series it's ripping off but not really part of. Worth watching but only if you know the games.

We were looking for a martial arts action film, but, although what there is is very good, there isn't enough of it to overcome the boredom. We did watch it to the end.

Stared out OK, promised a bit of action with an intriguing plot. Turned out to be a huge bore, made little sense and the acting got worse as it went along. The ending, if you can call it that, made no sense. Everybody looses, including the viewer. Don't waste your time, you'll just get more and more frustrated.

Very slow getting started, great action scenes. But,unfortunately not enough. I didn't care for ending, kinda let me down. The plot really didn't go anywhere,it left more questions.

Extremely boring with very little martial arts. Poster and explanation do not fit the movie. All in all it's bad.

It was just OK. The plot could be seen coming from a mile away. I like a little more mystery in this field.

I did not watch but a small portion of this movie, i just could not spend my time this way.

Way too slow in developing both plot lines and characters, the appeal is very narrow, and even then those familiar with the game itself are not in synch to buy-in. The set-up for the plot-line is being treated as complex, but it could really move a lot better as movies tend to do not having the luxury of time to develop as books/manga or the subsequent gaming that may be tied to them. While I enjoyed watching "Persona: Trinity Soul" the anime series based on Playstation 2 game,that in itself was a different medium and a different plot line that at times were also slow but allowed vesting of the storyline and characters. This is one you have to decide for yourself if there is enough time and interest to watch and through to the end.
