Frigidaire builds the best dehumidifiers. Period!
Dehumidifiers was needed to replace my old one that last just 4 years. I have been buying dehumidifiers since I left Florida and move to the Midwest 10 years ago. My Danby lasted only one summer, after getting a recommend buy from consumer reports. The cost to fix was more than a new one and even if I wanted to fixit no company wanted to fix Danby in CHICAGO. Danby wanted me to ship it to NY or Canada at my expense. Parts and Service are from Canada and the cost would be more than a new one. I went to whirlpool the next time, it last 1 1/2 years, but Whirlpool ended up paying me back in FULL after they couldn't fix it. i think there maybe have been a national recall on that model. Again the cost to repair would be more than a new one. But excellent customer service from Whirlpool. I got my check within 2 weeks of the claim. On the 3rd one I went with a high recommended Frigidaire over Kenmore or Whirlpool. That Frigidaire unit lasted 2 summers in Chicago and 3 summers in Kansas City. So when it stop working properly I went back to Frigidaire. After research, most new and energy star units won't last more than 3 years. So to get almost 5 years seems to be above average. I have had friends with much older units tell me there dehumidifiers have last 10 years plus, but they are noisy, not energy efficient, and they drain the buckets. The ones that last longer seem to be ones people are emptying on their own when bucket is full. I need a hose and want it to run when necessary. Not stop because I have to drain the bucket. So far this unit is working like a champ. Much quieter than the previous model I owned, still a tad loud, but not as bad. To attach the hose is so much easier, but make sure to really tighten the seal. I went on vacation and mine was dripping a bit. Left a bit of a puddle in the basement. That was my error and I haven't had a problem since. The unit works great. I tested it the first 2 weeks by emptying the bucket manually. I had to empty the BIG bucket at least 3 times a day. It was removing a lot of water from the air. This dehumidifier works!!! The filter is easy to clean. My basement has a air filter system so it rarely gets dirty/dusty anyway. I do maintain my products. So when something breaks it is probably because of workmanship. I can highly recommend Frigidaire dehumidifier. Hopefully I can get 5 years out of this one, if not more. It only has to run in the summer in KC. I have a walk out now. I can feel a huge difference in the quality of air in the basement and it so nice to watch TV in the entertainment room. I have it in a utility room in the basement, so I close the door when watching movies and can barely hear the machine working. This is a great machine. If you run it on medium or low, the noise is very minimal. With the door shut, you can't hear it. If you don't what to put a whole house dehumidifier, this is a great alternative.

This dehumidifier works great. Much quieter then the one I had to replace that quit working. Really easy to remove the full bucket and carry to the sink to dump. A full container isn't that heavy, about 13.5 lbs, to carry with the single handle and to dump. I have a very large basement that had a high humidity of 60-70% or so it would fill the 13.1 container pints within the day, 12-24 hours. That is a lot of water it is pulling out of the air. My wife complained about mildew smell in the basement that she couldn't stay in there long. We would also get white mold on the stuff in the basement. I have read that you should keep the humidity below 50% (set to 40-45%)if you don't want mold so I set it on 45% relative humidity and after about a week of use it brought our very large basement to 45-50%. It does feel a lot drier and should eliminate the mold. I highly recommend this. It just really easy to use and works great. Nice and quiet too, about the same noise as a small window a/c unit running. When the basement is cool (60's) the humidity is low and the unit runs but don't pull much water. It works best in warmer weather (70's) which is when the humidity is high and mold can grow, warm and moist. So, I only run it during the spring and summer months to save electricity cost.I used the bucket for about 2 weeks to try it out and then I switched to the continuous drain tube which I connected a piece of clear vinyl tube (1 1/4 inch outer dia, 1 inch inner dia) from Home Depot which I connected to a "T" connector that I installed on my A/C condensation line that runs outside. Since it is only gravity drain (no pump) I had to place my dehumidifier above the drain connection. I could have used a short piece of water hose but I like the clear tube so I can see that the water is flowing so I can check to make sure it is working. See pictures.

Product NOT recommended but Amazon.com is highly recommended for integrity/service
Final Update: I explained this mess to Amazon.com, not expecting anything other than to vent, but Amazon made it right and refunded my money. Thank you, Amazon. Second Update: The company contacted us, suggested we use a foaming cleaner on the fins which I cleaned off with a toothbrush after my husband created an opening. It still leaks all over the floor and now I get an F1 code. I turned the machine off, waited 30+ minutes, and still get an F1 code. The company had no other suggestions when we spoke to them, so come tomorrow it goes up to the dump. I will never buy another one. I cannot recommend this dehumidifier. If I could give it a zero, I would. First Update: While it worked well for almost 10 months, last week it flooded the floor, made gurgling noises, and the fins behind the white grate/grid which are covered by the removable filter. The fins were moldy and full of wet sludge. Plus, this was after I got an F0 code, which disappeared after I unplugged the machine for a few minutes then restarted the machine. It was impossible to clean the fins without cutting out a 6" x 6" center section of the grid. Then I used a soft toothbrush to remove the sludge which covered the entire fin area. Because we have multiple cats, I vacuum daily, including this dehumidifier's filter area, including the fins and grid (before we cut the grid). I didn't know how badly the fins were caked in wet sludge until we remove the grid section. If it was just dry dust, how did it get through the filter in spite of a daily vacuuming? It was wet sludge with mold on the fins and white grid. Plus, the water drawer started sticking to the unit which made it harder to remove. I sprayed a little WD40 on a paper towel and wiped down the outer area were the drawer touches the unit, then wiped off any excess. That helped but now it's sticking again. I clean the drawer thoroughly once a week, sometimes with a little vinegar in the water and occasionally bleach due to the mold issue (never mix the two). Whenever it beeps to empty the water, we empty it even in the middle of the night because it's outside my bedroom door and I'm a very light sleeper. I babied this machine because I didn't want to spend about $230 a year for a new one. Once the fins were cleaned it started operating almost normally again but today it blew more cold air than warm out the side. I reset the humidity level to 50% instead of 40%. It's no longer running constantly like it did before I cleaned the fins but it's not running normally either. It'll reach 70% humidity before the unit kicks on no matter where it's set. I've had it. I cannot recommend it. It's a nice looking unit but it's not durable. Other 1 star reviews state similar problems or worse. Apparently, once the F0 shows up even if the product starts working again, something is just not right. My original review with 5 stars: The humidity in our home was around 90%. Underneath our brick rancher is a 2.5 foot crawl space covered with multiple layers of plastic and our area is very humid during normal years. This is an abnormal year making interior and exterior surfaces prime breeding grounds for mold, mildew, and algae. Our HVAC unit is new but it couldn't handle the extreme summer wetness and it kept freezing up. We've had small, inexpensive dehumidifiers in the past which lasted about 2 years each but they did help support the old HVAC although they needed emptying almost every hour. So far, this 70 pint unit is working very well. It arrived yesterday. Per the instructions, it had to sit upright for an hour before use. Once it was in operation, it took only a few hours to fill the discharge tank. Once full, it stopped, beeped, and a light came on near the top. The discharge drawer has a handle inside which made emptying it a breeze. The instructions recommended using the CO (continuous operation) setting for the first 3 or 4 days of use before setting it to a preferred level of humidity (35% to 85%). Last night was the first night in a long time I didn't need my inhaler for asthma. Slightly drier air helped a lot. While 30 to 50 pint units are recommended for the average home with 70 pint units recommended for basement areas, past experience proved to us that we needed the higher capacity unit. I hope it lasts a long time. Right now, it works great and I've emptied it twice in 15 hours of continuous operation. Also, I recommend purchasing an hygrometer to check the humidity levels. I bought two of the Harbor Digital Hygrometers, 1 for the living room and 1 for my bedroom. The one in the bedroom shows the humidity level has been reduced to 62%. The dehumidifier sits in the hallway outside my door. It's very quiet. Big difference in the humidity level and the air quality for me. The only downside is that the unit blows warm air out of vents on the right side. I positioned ours to blow into the kitchen where I run the exhaust fan to pull out the excess heat. It's not super hot but it is warmer than the internal temperature in the house overall, by about 5 degrees or so. Note: Although we don't have the capability at this point, this unit comes with an adapter for a hose which can be run to discharge into a tub or laundry drain pipe. That way you don't have to empty the tank manually. Amazon.com had the best price by far compared to the large brick and mortar box stores.

Efficient and high quality dehumidifier
I've had it for a month now, so far so good. I decided to purchase this dehumidifier after a month of research and price comparisons found this to be the best. Practically all reviews of this was very positive. I was sceptical, but I needed a dehumidifier for my basement. 6 months, we redecorated our basement as a rec room/spare room when guests stay over. Because the basement was also where we did the laundry, the heat from the washer and dryer left the place very humid and left a 'wet clothes' smell. After using this for a day, a noticed a vast improvement. The air was fresher and now more moisture on the furniture and wall. Now a month later, still great. I leave it on for about 2-6 hours a day depending and it doesn't make a loud sound. Its compact and sleek, so it doesn't look so out of place and the bottom wheels are placed to easily move it around but keep it in place. It's also very easy to use and shuts off on its when the water tank is filled, so no nasty spillage. I'll probably update my review in the next coming months, but so far it has really met my expectations.

Great unit!
I recently bought two of these units, I have only been using them for two days and so far they have been fantastic. They have litteraly changed my life and I'm not even joking.I have one for my main floor and one for my basement. I have a large family all living under one roof and during the winter months our windows would sweat constantly and I measured relative humidity at roughly 60% pretty much at all times prior to buying these units. This is not from poor insulation, it's actually the opposite. We have so many people cooking and showering and just breathing all day with no forced air heating that the moisture just has no way to get out. In the summer it's fine as we open windows and doors regularly but in winter it's a problem.I was having minor mold issues throughout the home on window sills and even behind dressers and headboards. Absolutely disgusting. With these units running for two days it's now 45% relative humidity and so much more comfortable. No more sweating windows, clothes dry in no time when hung to dry inside the house, even our toilet tank which would sweat and drop constantly is now bone dry.The units are easy to use, they roll well, they are quite heavy which I take to be a sign of quality materials. It's kind of loud, you wouldn't really want to have this thing sitting next to you while watching tv but I'm not sure how it compares to other units they might be just as loud or louder I have no clue.I don't like how the fan seems to run constantly even once the target humidity level is reached. I get that having air flow is a good thing but personally I'd rather it shut off completely when the target level is reached.I give it 4/5 stars great unit and it arrived quickly as well.
