Sides Pinch Snap-On Front Lens Cap/Cover Compatible with Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm Pentax All DSLR Lenses (55 MM)

I ordered this to use on my Camp Snap 2 and it fits perfectly. Snaps on and holds on place to protect your lense. So far so good with noncompliant.

The Fujifilm XF 60mm macro lens arrived with what must be the world's worst lens cap. It's flimsy and barely stays on. I ordered the CamDesign cap hoping that it would be a decent replacement. It is. It seems to be as well made as similar-looking caps from Tamron. The spring tension is good and the cap fits nice and tight. It comes with a permanently attached thread for cap-keeping purposes — I cut that off right away. The package also contained a thick, strong 2.5"-diameter rubber band labeled "70-200". Perhaps it's a wrist band, also for cap-keeping purposes? No idea, but who knows — it might come in handy some day. If there's any problem with the lens cap it's that the inner "rails" are too low-profile, but they can be built up easily enough with the miracle product called Sugru. Otherwise, the cap is just what the doctor ordered.

Fit is superb on my Nikon D3500 or Sony 4K Camcorder perfectly!

As with many of the other 1-star reviews, I've found that this 55mm lens cap is not accurately sized. It is about 55.5mm, which makes it too big to fit on a 55 mm-sized lens; it can be jammed on, but will spring off easily- not secure at all. This should be zero stars- the hassle I will have in returning it, gas, time, etc. make this purchase cost more than the thing itself. Plus, I will still have to buy another from another supplier.

Well made and well molded. However, I failed to notice that the pinching design makes it impossible to use when the lens is recessed. That's my bad because if I had paid enough attention to the photos in the listing, I would have spotted that detail. I added a tiny handle using epoxy and small bolts (1/10 in x 3/8 in long) to each movable/pinchable ear and that makes it useful to me. Given the price I could have just ordered a cap with the right design, but for me, handicrafts are fun.

In the field I’m not placing and removing lens hoods, or turning them forwards or into reverse-position, over and over. So, most often the lens hood is on, making it hard to pinch the side-buttons on lens caps that don’t have a center-pinch. Though I don’t like fussing with the hoods, and so just leave them in position, I do put the lens cap on whenever I remove a lens. I do it because too many times, when I have reached back into the bag for that lens again, I tend to accidentally press a dirty finger right onto the exposed lens or filter. So, I’m a devoted lens-cap user. To my mind, the most sensible solution (with or without the lens hood on) is to have caps that give TWO options — these caps allow both a center-pinch and side-pinch means of removing the lens cap. And these caps are quality caps at a low price, to make up for the lens’s company’s failure to supply center-pinch caps, or for replacement or extra lens caps.

It’s a small lens cap. The product photos show springs on two sides but for these smaller diameter versions it’s only one spring. The spring is firm enough to not give me any worries about it coming off or wearing out.

Unlike some of the styles of snap-on covers I've tried, this one properly holds on to the threads of the UV filter I keep on my lens. I'm a happy photographer!
