my 120 year old is new to boxing. I am not sure what hook and loop mean - does it have the loop for the thumb and then velcro at the end to secure it

120 is the perfect age to start boxing. As a matter of fact, Rocky Marciano started at the age of 123 and he did quite well

Are these good for female with small hands whose getting into kickboxing ? or will they be to big ?

Definitely. I know some ladies who like the 180's cause they provide a lot of extra padding, because of small hands. Most ladies with small hands, prefer to use the 120's because they have a better fit. It's going to come down to personal preference. Just stay away from the 108's because those are for little kids. whichones do u guys recomend these ones or the mexican everlast wraps

I prefer the pro impact wraps, over the everlast wraps. The velcro closures on the PIs are a much better quality closure.

Should I wash these before using them?

I have always just used upon arrival. They get a wash after your first workout for sure.
