Riedel Cabernet Magnum decanter

Nice decanters for a value price. Not much to describe - they hold the magnum of wine with room to spare, and have a good neck that makes it easy to hold while allowing cleaning and drying.

This is the perfect size! Very elegant. Easily holds a full bottle of wine. Love it!

Seems like a nice decanter but when full of some very nice wine, a bottle next to it tipped and just touched the Reidel Magnum decanter which shattered into pieces. The wine was gone. Will never replace the Reidel, rather will buy a more robust glass. Glass is too thin. The event was heartbreaking.

This an excellent decanter for any fine red wine. While the name says Bordeaux, it works well with any red wine. The name says magnum reflecting a capacity sufficient to hold two regular 750 ml bottles of wine. It is best used for single 750 ml bottles. This fills the decanter to just above the point of widest diameter which exposes the maximum amount of wine to air. The decanter also has a fairly slim profile so it is easy to store. Of course the Riedel decanter that exposes the most wine to air is the Riedel Magnum Ultra Decanter . But this is far more expensive, more cumbersome due to its width, and is made with leaded glass. So I prefer the Magnum Cabernet Decanter. Usage tips: The inside surface of the decanter is designed to attract the wine. Pour the wine slowly down the side of the decanter so it breathes while pouring. Maybe use soap to clean the inside ONCE when you first get it and be sure to rinse it really well. After, only use warm water to rinse the decanter. It will discolor over time from the red wine. A great two-step cleaning process is first Riedel 1-3/4-Inch Bottle Cleaner Beads and then Decanter Cleaning Brush - White . Highly recommended. This decanter is amazing. It looks great on the table, it's easy to clean because the opening is big enough and it does a great job of aerating the wine -- particularly if you are hosting a bigger group and have two bottles of the same wine.

Good price for this product. Had to replace the one my wife REALLY liked after I broke the old one. Perfect size to decant a fifth, leaving good airspace above the surface area in the wider portion of the decanter.

This decanter is really lovely! Not only is it super pretty but it does a nice job. Also, the quality is really great and I have gotten a number of compliments on this decanter. I would definitely buy Riedel again!

This is DEFINITELY the right size for a single 750ml bottle. I have no idea what Riedel is thinking saying that it is for a magnum...while indeed it will "hold" a full magnum, it would be full up to the neck, which is not really the right idea for a decanter. The glass is a bit thinner than I expected, but it is very high quality, consistent and nice looking, with no flaws at all. I do believe this is great value for money.

Excellent. I love the shape - it looks good and is easy to clean. We have a wide, round bottomed decanter that looks good and lots of air/wine contact, but it's a pain to clean. I really only clean with hot water - don't want those cellared wines tasting soapy - and the wide bottom has some etching in it that's impossible to remove. A common problem, apparently. The shape also requires comparatively little shelf room for storage. Two notes: 1. I'm not at all hung up that it's a "Cabernet" decanter. This will work well with any varietal. 2. I didn't buy this for magnums, I bought it for 750ml bottles. I think the 750ml size decanter is too small - a bottle almost fills it, so not a lot of air/wine contact. It's thin and lightweight - I hope it lasts!!

If you want a grand centrepiece statement of a Magnum decanter, do not buy this. But it exactly suited my needs as it holds the contents of a magnum (though it gets quite full) without taking up too much space in the cupboard.

I purchased this decanter as a Christmas present for my son & his wife. Therefore I cannot comment on its use. However I was very impressed by the way it was packaged by the supplier. The decanter was packed in its own manufacturers box, then packed surrounded by bubble packing in a large cardboard box. This box was so large that I had a job finding the original box within it. As a consequence, the decanter survived transportation without incident. Well done!
