Otterbox Defender Series for Samsung Galaxy s6 - Retail Packaging - Black

A few days ago, I upgraded my smartphone from a Samsung Galaxy S4 to a Galaxy S6. I decided that the very first accessory I would need for my new phone would be the Otterbox Defender protective case. As was the “case” (pun intended) with my GS4, the Otterbox Defender has turned out to be the perfect choice for my GS6.The Otterbox Defender consists of an impact resistant inner case/screen protector assembly that serves as a “cocoon” for the phone. This inner case assembly is given added protection by a heavy-duty silicone outer shell. A belt clip that snaps on to the Defender case protects the phone’s screen when it's not in use.The Otterbox Defender does add weight and size to the phone, but it’s still surprisingly unobtrusive in daily use. Still, the advantages of having it far outweigh the disadvantages of its added bulk, especially considering that almost the entire body of the GS6 is made of Gorilla Glass 4. I haven’t yet managed to fumble my new GS6 onto a hard surface, but I’m not taking any chances with possibly damaging this fragile and sensitive electronic device that cost me nearly $600.My past experience with the Otterbox Defender gives me great confidence that it will provide the same maximum level of protection for my new Galaxy S6. Very highly recommended.

First I want to say that this case was fantastic for the first couple of months that I've owned it. I'm also not very rough when it comes to the way I treat my phone. I rarely let my kids play with it for fear they'll drop it and crack the screen. My wife and I have owned a few Otterbox cases and aside from having her iPhone run over by a car there's been no issues with the products Otterbox produces. That is until I owned it for several months. This case kept my phone safe from many drops, falls, and spills so after a while I had a lot of faith in the case until one fateful day when I tried to slide my phone into my pocket and missed causing the phone to drop onto the ground. I wasn't concerned that there was any damage to my phone (after all why I should I) since it was maybe a 2.5-3 ft drop onto pavement with only gravity acting on it. Well another moment of clumsiness occured where I dropped it again on the ground right after (note I say dropped and not thrown) from about the same height. When I examined my phone the screen was soo cracked that it was virtually unusable. At first I could see parts of the display but after a while it went completely dark. The digitizer was also completely shot as well.All in all I had to send my phone off and pay to have the display repaired. Otterbox sent me a replacement plastic shell (they didn't send me a whole new case i.e the outer portion of the case). I'm not as trusting of the Otterbox brand as I used to be although my wife has had hers for quite a while to the point that it's almost falling apart with not so much as a scratch with her phone. Maybe it was the way the phone fell or hit the ground but I don't put as much faith in these cases after this incident and I try to be more careful with my phone (I invested in some tempered glass screen protectors and have had pretty good luck with them so far).

So I've waited 2 weeks to do my review as to point out as many pro and cons as I could find, here you are. I've had life proof cases for all my other phones but due to the insane amount of terrible reviews I decided to go with an otter box and I'm not disappointed at all, it was a great desision. First this is a 3 piece case that provides excellent protection, it's easy to put on and take off to clean because while they claim it's dust proof it is not but not at all a deal breaker for me. Like I said I've had it for 2 weeks and I'm barely noticing some light specs of dust and lint in the case but overall nothing too bad. The rubbers that open to access your charge and headphone ports are well made and feel very durable even with heavy use, I charge my phone at more than 15 times a day because it's used for work and haven't had any problem with them breaking off or not closing properly, very tight fit. The rubber outside case adds a comfortable grip in your hand but not sticky enough to lay on my cars dash, it still slides off. I like that it doesn't add too much more bulk to the s6. It's got raised edges on front to protect the screen from flat falls on screen as well as rear camera. Built in screen protector doesn't feel glass like but that's expected it's plastic, but still has a good feel. It does not cause any rainbow effect on the screen and doesn't dim the screen any. Very tranparent. Overall this is a very well built sturdy case that you won't be disappointed in. Five stars all around.

In ordering this cover, I was primarily interested in the ability to clamp it on my belt for easy access. This item does clamp on the belt BUT is NOT easy to access. Two hands are required and resulted in some fumbling.HOWEVER, OtterBox Defender is a fine, well built, phone case. If you are in the construction, military or operate a jack hammer, this is your best choice because it is industrial strength.But I am an 80 year old guy who wants the convenience of getting my phone in my hand easily even when sitting down, SO this was too much of a good thing!10 days later: I returned this case and was very impressed with Amazon's return procedure. Simply dropping off the unwrapped item at a UPS store, receiving a receipt and getting a refund notice the next day. It just does not get any better than that!

Excellent piece of kit , really protects the phone,Would definitely recommend it.

I'm a carpenter, I use my phone every day for work. I bought this case 2 years ago and I'm still using it. I've dropped my phone countless times, sat on it and had it in my pouch with nails/screws/tools. It has gotten dusty, dirty, muddy and wet. It has worn a phone shaped outline and holes in the back pocket of 3 pairs of pants.Suffice to say the case is durable and is still going strong. It's kept my Galaxy S6 safe all this time. It's got a few battlescars, but hey, so does everyone in construction after a couple years.My ONLY qualm with this case would be that it traps rain drops between your screen and the screen protector. Then you have to pop it apart and wipe it down so it doesn't mess with the touch screen.10/10 - I recommend it for keeping your Samsung safe.

very good case.. dropped my phone many times, on concrete, on street, on metal work bench, and phone is still ok.. fits good, and has a slip resistant backing and sides on the case itself, so on tables, car dashes, and other places, it won't slide off.. had this case for long time already, and still is in really good condition.. fits good in the hand also.. doesn't slip out of hand easy because of the no slip material..buttons work very good too..never an issue with this case..

The reality is, you really can't go wrong with an otterbox. Great product, does the job, and feels great in the hand. I can drop my device, and I'm not worries about it at all. The reason I gave 4 stars and not 5, is because I wasn't a big fan of the screen protector, as I already had one on my phone, I had to pop it out of the otterbox, but it still works perfectly. I'm thankful I made this investment! Get yours now!

This is my second (this cell phone and two phones ago) Otterbox case and I love it. The raised edges in the front protect the screen better than others I have had and seen. Lots of protection. My previous Otterbox case paid for itself multiple times over as it protected my case even while I was inline skating and had numerous drops and falls.
