Sturdy and larger than other ant moats saw. It looks like an upside down umbrella...very cute. This is my second one. It does keep ants out of my hummingbird feeder.

I have a hummingbird feeder (old-fashioned green glass soda bottle type) and it looks adorable with it
A little longer than I'd thought it would be, but it's just so darned cute. A little more than I'd planned to spend on this particular thing - but its really well made - I don't think it will fall apart or rust or degrade in the sun. I have a hummingbird feeder (old-fashioned green glass soda bottle type) and it looks adorable with it. I haven't had any ants invade the bottle/feeder yet - and hope it will stay that way. The "moat" part is a good size, and holds probably half a cup (?) of water, but it's in a sunny spot so have to check it fairly regularly. In spite of that (unavoidable, of course), I am really pleased with this purchase.(I also bought a ceramic "flower" moat - and it doesn't hold nearly as much water, but is also very cute and well made)

Cute! Adds a nice touch, doesn’t look cheap like others.
If you have to have an ant moat then it least it can be cute. I had the plastic tulip shaped ones before I found this one. It is so cute! Also our American goldfinches think I put it out for them. They come to steal a drink from it often. So it became cute and multipurpose.

Very Cute and Works as Expected (except a little rust)
This works as expected and is a cute addition to my hummingbird feeder. Unless you get rain often you do need to keep an eye on it and refill it with water as needed. (That's with any ant moat.)The only negative is that there are some parts that showed rust within a day, which is something I wouldn't expect given the cost. Despite this I did order another for my second feeder and will just spray them both with a little rust protectant.

moat is totally invaluable against ants (+ advice against bees)
We bought 2 of these Ant Moats and use them in addition with our humming bird feeders (homemade nectar - 4 parts water to 1 part white sugar). Totally invaluable Moat! Has a good size reservoir for water that you can refill every few days. However, if you have trouble like we do with bees at the feeder, add a wasp/hornet/Bee/yellowJacket Trap a few feet (not along side it) from the HB feeder. This will distract many (not all) bees that are attracted to the HB feeder. These two methods, the ant moat and the bee traps, will help give your humming birds a fighting chance.

Ants never get into my feeders anymore. But, they never advertise another great feature of these umbrellas. keeping clean, adequate water supplies for birds can be difficult. When these have water, we as often see songbirds sipping water from the umbrellas as we do hummingbirds feeding at the feeders. I have had mine for several years. I had small areas of rust on the inside of a few. A few quick swipes with a brillo pad, a light spray of krylon, and they were perfect again. I highly recommend these, and as I get more feeders I buy more, and I have just placed some on branches here and there so reduce competition for the water. Huge value for the money.
