Herbatint Hair Lightener Chamomile -- 6.8 fl oz

I have used hair coloring for root touch up for more years than I care to remember given what I have learned about the toxicity levels in these products through the EWG's Skin Deep Cosmetic Database. Even products that profess to be conditioning and enriching for hair are dangerous, such as Garnier Nutrisse, which I used for years. I often wondered about these product claims, as I always felt mildly ill during and after application. I justified these side effects for the sake of a quick fix to root touch up and the fact that I only need a touch up every 3 - 4 months. Then I read about EWG in an Amazon review and was shocked what I found out about many of the products I had at home. I vowed to improve my product choices for the betterment of my health.In trying to find a healthier way to lighten the roots of my naturally dirty blond hair, I first tried Henna. This did not work out for me for many reasons. Then I stumbled onto this product, which received a 2 rating on EWG. This translates to very low hazard.I put the contents in a spray bottle and lightly mist my roots on washed, towel dried hair. I mostly let my hair air dry, and then a light hair dryer to remove the remaining dampness. I don't rinse this product out. I have used it now for several weeks, which totals about 6 applications and my roots now look naturally lightened. Not as light as the ends, but light enough to naturally blend.I'm satisfied with the results and grateful for an easy and safe alternative to coloring my hair.Recognizing that the following falls under packaging review, it has been mentioned here, so I will add to it. As mentioned in several reviews, there was leakage during shipment. I contacted the seller and was sent a replacement. This one also leaked. The issue is the use of a mailer envelope instead of a box. Despite this issue, customer service is prompt and courteous.

The above reviewers seem to be under the impression that it's all natural. I was too until i read it contains HYDROGEN PEROXIDE :(The seller never hid this, all you have to do is scroll down to the ingredients. I just thought it was natural b/c i was searching for chamomile shampoo and it said it was made of herbal extracts.However I can fault the seller on the fact that the bottle was not sealed properly with a plastic wrapper and was leaking everywhere. Which makes me wonder if it really is from Herbatint

I have used concentrated chamomile quite often to lighten up my hair. This product smells nice and I suppose it works, but it is very liquid and drips all over. The manufacturer recommends that you use it in the shower and leave it on for 10 minutes. For me that is quite an impossible thing to do.

This worked to lighten my hair, but was too drying. My hair is prone to dryness, and I live in a dry climate; otherwise it might have been okay.

I use this about twice a week. It doesn't damage my hair and gives it a natural blond look. I also use the Doo Gro Hair Growth Oil a couple times a week just to keep it healthy. Both are great products to use. The only that might dry out your hair a bit is the Hydrogen Peroxide. So I would purchase this along with something else to keep your hair moisturized. Good product over all

I have "dirty blonde" hair and need something to help enhance my color and rid it of that mousy look. I typically use "Sun- in"... but that is pretty hard to come by during a Cleveland winter and I feel as though it is not good for my rather fine hair texture.This product lightens my hair subtly and produces that blonde color I love and leaves it feeling very healthy.Just go ahead and buy it.

This product may be great for people with "virgin hair" but it didn't lighten my already colored hair AT ALL. I followed people's advice (by applying heat and letting it sit on the hair for hours) and used it multiple times. Too bad as it rated well on the Skin Deep database for low toxicity.
