Can you get less expensive toner from other brands?

NO! HP is now gluing the chips to the cartridges now so you cannot use for the 3rd party toners. Don't waste your money on HP printers. They do all they can to gouge you on the consumables. 4 HP branded toners cost $415 before tax and shipping. Highway robbery. HP is dead to me.

Does toner come in the box?

Yes. Most toner is not pre-loaded because it would spill during shipment. The cartridges come with the printer, but NOT pre-installed.

Will it print on cardstock ?

I make greeting cards and have printed on 80 lb 216 gsm cardstock (purchased thru Amazon) with this printer and I am pleased with its performance.
