On an average, how many recharges should a NiCd battery take?

This is the second set I ordered,because I bought more solar lights. They charge from the sun even in the snow. Mine has lasted over a year.

Do these batteries work for any device?

yes and no, you need to remember that rechargeables are 1.2 volts not 1.5 volts like normal batteries. Some devices call for 1.2. With that said you will need to see if your device will work as good on 1.2 volt compared to 1.5.

can i use the 600 on a solar lamp that takes 300? will they last longer?

I use them in mine and I have to replace them less often . Keep in mind though I have had to replace a bulb here and there when before I never had to.

I purchased these batteries about 4 months ago I have 7 lights out. Shouldn't battery last longer than few months?

I purchased these batteries and only two of the 8 worked at all. Consider yourself luck you got a few months out of yours.
