From sub-zero music experience to playing guitar. Incredible product!!
The Chord Buddy is amazing. It actually works and is made with quality in USA. I have sub-zero musical experience and now I am able to actually play the guitar. The guy on the video has an awesome teaching style and techniques. As he suggests, I review the lesson plans on the DVD many times. Just as he says the the musical stuff--notes, chords, sequence, ect... really begin to make sense the more you watch. He has broken down the learning process in 2 steps. First you learn 4 different strumming techniques (from easy to difficult) and play songs with four chords using the Chord Buddy. This is kind of the wax on wax off technique used in the Karate kid movie. The strumming and developing the muscle memory in your fingers and get them used to working independently. I am slow, but within the second day I was playing the first strum pattern and 4 Chords using the Chord Buddy and it actually sounded good. After you have muscle memory and don't have to worry about strumming, you begin to remove 1 of the 4 Chord Buddy buttons at a time and play the Chords yourself. This the the best way to learn guitar. Instead of being frustrated, after I play, I usually say to myself I cannot believe I am playing that.

ChordBuddy
I am a intermediate player.I know these chords.I am getting older and my hands getting slower. So I bought this to use to save a little on my tired hands. I can play many many songs with just these few simple chords and that is why I purchased it and I was hoping my child would see the ease and give it a try, I hope they do. this is a good learning tool for novice players that allow them to play songs in just a few moments, something very few systems do.Many get fustrated tring to play, this item takes away allot of that fustration in learning hand positions and allows them to play a song immediately. Great product for the novice, and the intermediate player and some older players with age may find this simple solution of tired hands easy to compensate for that problem and still play.( one thing I must mention, do not let this be a crutch for learning the correct chords and finger positions. It is so easy it will distract that fact from your learning and make it easy to push one button instead of learning the fingering and you will rely on it to much,Please learn from it and don't rely on it all the time) Still a great product and will indeed help you to learn the finger positions one chord at a time.

Cheaply made rendition makes a great idea useless in practice
I ordered the Chord Buddy after seeing a Shark Tank episode where Travis Perry pitched the device and thought I'd try it out as it seemed like a great idea. CB came nicely packaged and with simple DVD instructions and a 2 page pamphlet on how to fit it to a guitar. Chord Buddy cost me $60 with tax, plus $60.14 international shipping to India, plus $17.50 import duty, for a total of $137.64. The device would not stay on the dreadnought guitar of the recommended neck width (1-7/8th inch) of a low height string Yamaha guitar due to a number of factors: 1. The plastic side clamps were lined with what looked like rubber from a bicycle inner-tube and kept slipping out of alignment relative to the plastic it was stuck on to when the tabs were depressed to play chords. (See images) 2. The green tab boot kept touching the second string of the guitar creating a buzz after a few strums of the green and other tab chords, no matter how one adjusted the device for 2 reasons: (1) The plastic arm depressing the green tab did not return to upward to a proper position; and (2) after a little use, the entire Chord Buddy device kept dipping off angle downwards toward the strings. 3. Finally, while tightening the thumbscrew 'snugly' as advised by Perry, the thumbscrew rotated free, and slipped entirely off the plastic housing on inspecting it. The cause seems to be the very poorly fixed brass knurled insert that was precariously fixed to the plastic housing and came unstuck, in which the thumbscrew fits. Therefore cannot be tightened securely. 4. The 3 weakest points are: Inability of CB to stay aligned; poor workmasnhip and materials; lack of proper flexibility of the plastic the tab is fixed to, All in all a frustrating experience. Great idea. Useless product. Not recommended, especially not recommended for delivery outside the US since returns are not worthwhile in general--the paperwork and postage etc is a hassle and hence not doable.

ChordBuddy and learning system
ChordBuddy Not good.1] Fitting is not easy 2] Moves during play 3] Too difficult to get the "fingers " to depress evenly for the chosen chord. 4] Too flimsy. 5 ] It will not fit the wider neck=only one size Learning system, books and practice and marketing = very good. Maybe exciting ! You will question my judgement = what do I know about chordmaking device?! Good question! But== As mentioned in a previous reply. I have been playing on a Mechanical chord maker for over a year. I have designed ,made and patented a device . I would like to offer this to your organization for development. My patent was registered before your "patent pending " I do believe . A mutually convenient plan should be workable as I could sell them here. Please pass this on as I am unable to contact the relevant department at your head office .Or please contact me by return email With Thanks Your chordaly Glen Hudson Written on a cloud The review of your ChordBuddy was for you, [Amazon] Intention being for Amazon this link to view. Good place to start but by no means a miracle device
I purchased the chord buddy after seeing it on the shark tank. Looked like an easy way to learn guitar. I bought it hoping I would lbe easy, but the installation is a pain off the bat to get right. Eventually I gave it a chance. The DVD is a good bonus. He guides you thru songs and shows u different techniques of strumming. The songbook also has 100 songs and I am learning "fifteen" by Taylor Swift right now. That song stood out most and u will surely find a song that u like to play in the book. The Blue, Red, and Yellow buttons all work great but the real issue is the Green button (C chord). It is hard to press down with my middle finger and I am surprised no one else has had this issue. If the Green button was easier on my finger I would rate it 5 stars but I'll give it 4 for now and update this if I ever learn songs. Just don't buy this and expect it to be easy. It's certainly not, but with a lot of practice u might. If you are wondering, this is basically how it works: Pinky - Blue - plays G - all six strings Ring finger - Red - Plays D - Bottom 4 strings Middle finger - Green - Plays C - bottom 5 strings Index finger - Yellow - E minor chord - all six strings

Both I and My Son Are Enjoying and Learning with our Chord Buddies!
I'm thrilled with this system for learning guitar. I've always wanted to learn but felt learning chords was daunting. Now, I can learn the timing of strumming and pick strumming without worrying about the chords so much (yet). I'm moving ahead slowly with this system and have started playing the songs in the course and this success has created within me a desire to continue. We also have one for my left-handed son (7) and his left-handed guitar. He is learning right along side me. We are really enjoying doing this together. The Chord Buddy has made this easy and affordable. Once we complete the course the plan is to move on to more lessons so this isn't the end-all but it is the best way I've seen to get started. I'd recommend this to anyone that wants to start out. Tip: Be sure to get a "new" Chord Buddy that no one else has pulled out and replaced the tabs already.

My dream come Trur
About the ChordBuddy; 1. The instructions were some what easy to Learn. the video goes to fast for the beginier, example when trying to play (ring of fire) the instructor go just a little to fast. The video needs to be redone, in the perspctive of your audance does not know anything about playing a guitar. 2. The cords, E, C, D, anf G , Can be applied to just about every song I want to play. 3. I have Two fingers, on my left hand, which were smashed in 1990, in an accident, So, my index finger and my middle finger, do not have the first joint, so the chord buddy allows me to play the Guitar, 4. I purchased ther Chord Buddy for Christmas, and when other prople so me play it, They to bought one for them selfs. I am a Retired person, so i have alot of time to play my Guitar. I also taught a Class in begining guitar, and i have 6 students all over 60 years old. The bigiest problem was teaching Rythym, the the struming hand. We are having fun playing music, A little about myself, My wife and i are Full Time RVers. we travel around the US and the world. I take my guitar with me all over the place. Thank you for your invention, I'm singing and having fun. Thanks Johnny Martinez on some small Guitars the neck's are a little to wide so the device does not fit. Are you going to invent a Chord buddy for a Electric Guitar?

Great idea, implementation not so hot
First off, if you're one of the people who've gotten this to work consistently, congrats and I'm glad you're happy. There seems to be a lot of good reviews, so good for them. And it is a great premise, the books/DVD are very well done. Where it falls short for me is in the actual device. The plastic 'fingers' tend to drift a bit (they are removable), and they hit each other and mess things up. But the major flaw is how it attaches to the guitar. It clamps to the neck on the sides, however, the Chord Buddy needs to stay above the strings (so as to not hit the wrong notes), so it also needs something to hold the top solidly. But any pressure on the buttons causes it to 'fall' down a bit, making contact with the wrong strings. I'm going to try to clamp it so this doesn't happen, but with the finger drift, I'm not sure this will work anyway. One wonders what would have happened if they had used better materials? Update: figured I'd post this, maybe it will help others. I had to file some edges of the fingers that were rubbing against each other. Then, in order to stop them from 'drifting' back into each other, I had to glue them (fingers not removable anymore!). No biggie for me, as I don't see doing half Chord Buddy, half fingering anyway. The biggest fix came in keeping the Chord Buddy from tilting down. I took a rubber band and looped it over the rounded plastic (by the tightening screw), underneath the neck and hooked to the other side. This gives it enough tension so as to not continually flop down. While it now works, I can't give a better grade. For this much money, it should work well out of the box. Second Update: I also picked up a copy of Rocksmith. I would have to say that Chord Buddy makes you feel like you are playing a song (strumming a few chords is all it is really doing). Rocksmith lets you play single notes and then graduate to more, while also making you feel like you are playing along. I would have to recommend Rocksmith over Chord Buddy, and it's cheaper to boot!
