Convenient on/off
I ordered this set, and a set of the Gearlight S1000 tactical flashlights with magnet. Using 3-AAA batteries, at it's narrowest zoom, the FixedStar lit an area approx. 2/3's the size, but brighter than the Gearlight. At it's widest zoom, the FixedStar lit a larger field, by about 20%, but it also seemed 1/2 as bright as the Gearlight . I liked the convenience of the on/off setting and the "easy to press" button. The Gearlight's magnet seemed to be in my way, as it encircles their on/off button.

Strong bright flashlight and simple to use.
I use this for walking my dog. I took some pictures in back yatd from 45 feet away to show both the full beam and small square. These were taken using 3 triple A batteries. It is amazingly powerful. The beam is adjusted easily by pulling the lens housing out or in. The button turns it on or off. No cycling through button clicks to adjust light. It seems quite sturdy. Not thin metal or plastic. Overall an excellent flashlight.Update. I left the flashlight on in my car accidentally. 12 hours later it still had light. It was dim, but still usable. This was with three triple A batteries in it. These are some great flashlights..

Its too bright
They are both perfect. So bright. White light. Blindingly bright. Its like a spotlight that stays cool. Its simple. I could see people complaining in campgrounds if its pointed at their tents or faces. Its amazing. I have a disco ball and if I zoom it all the way in and point at it, its so bright that the fractals are multi colored. I dont know, I think its great. Good for spotting animals at night too.

Durable, bright, compact
Bought these for a trip to Jamaica. Worked great on the beach at night and walking down the road. Very bright, adjustable. Seem pretty sturdy, compact but beefy. I have spent 5x as much for fancy led lights that need $10 batteries that don't last more than one camping trip. Screw that, I will just buy more of these and use rechargeable batteries. Be careful to check the vendor, seems like these are sold on Amazon with different names, descriptions, and prices.

Bright Light, Cheap Components
These flashlights rarely get used as they are in nightstands for emergencies. But after just about a dozen on/off cycles, the on/off switches fell apart. I spent an hour putting them back together and know that I will have to go through the same process when I change batteries which I will not be doing as these will be going in the trash. I do not recommend buying this flashlight model (Note: there appears to be several sellers of this style and I assume they are all made by the same company). I will be replacing with reliable flashlights (i.e., going back to Maglites) because we need reliable flashlights in the event of an emergency!

Simply functional. No silly flashing modes you never use.
Remember when flashlights had one purpose.. to turn on and provide light, and then to turn off, when you're not in fear of stubbing your toe or tripping over a tree stump? These flashlights combine the modern battery technologies -- choose between 3 AAA batteries or a single 18650 Lithium rechargeable battery -- with the old, plain, simple functionality of a flashlight. They won't frustrate you with [high]-[medium]-[low]-[superlow]-[epileptic-seizure-inducing-flashing],[SOS] modes that you never use anyway (seriously, how many times has anyone actually needed an automatic SOS-signalling flashlight?). The selector switch, gloriously limited as it is, is on the back end of the light ("tail switch").You can slide the front section of the light in or out to change the focus (width) of the beam, the wider the beam, the dimmer the resultant light beam, and there aren't any "artifacts" left in the circle of light, although if you tighten the beam to its most narrow focus, you'll see the LED matrix projected onto whatever you're shining the light on. The slide moves smoothly, and will likely compress when you put the light in your pocket. My only criticism of the light is that the wrist strap is pretty weak, and will likely break at the connection to the back of the light within a few hours or days, depending on how roughly you handle it. I just snapped mine off and use it without them anyway.

Sturdy little lights
I received the set of 2 flashlights yesterday. They take 3 AAA batteries. Be sure to use alkaline and not a cheapy battery as any of these LED lights take a lot of battery power. They appear to be well built and sturdy. The reason I purchased these particular lights is they dont have all the silly modes that are unncecessay : strobe, flash, etc. I just want on and off and thats how these are. They have an adjustable beam which is nice and that is used by extending or retracting the front housing of the lense. They are very bright and I'm sure they will do the job as intended. Not a bad price for 2 of these.

BRIGHT!!!!
These flashlights are unbelievably bright. I expected they would be brighter because of the 1000 LM claim vs 30 for most small flashlights but there is no exaggeration when they say they will light up a room. I will update this review once I see how long the batteries last and maybe add a photo of the range of light. They are also well made, unlike some flashlights of this type where the on-off button is threaded on with only 2 rings so over time your flashlight either stays on or off unless you play with the tightness of the cap. I can't count how many batteries I've replaced on those flashlights with the caps making intermittent contacts when they were supposed to be 'off'. Great buy.
