Product Description Rolling his eyes toward heaven and shaking his head like a man possessed, Muddy Waters cast a powerful spell. His high cheekbones and Oriental eyes gave him a certain Eastern, inscrutable quality, and at times his face even became angelic. He could easily work audiences into a frenzy, marrying the unmistakable sexual urgency of his lyrics to the vocal slide statements that for 40 years were as much a part of his signature as his voice, which many claim was the best in electric blues. A native Mississippi Delta bluesman, Muddy instinctively understood the unpretentious beauty and power in simplicity. Time and again, he transformed basic patterns into blues masterpieces. Decades after their introduction, hypnotic stop time songs such as Manish Boy still electrify audiences. Like the superstitions and voodoo images prominent in Waters best-known lyrics, the primal earthiness of his rhythms contains a deep, almost subconscious appeal. Jas Obrecht, Guitar Player Magazine. The rare footage presented in this video presents Muddy Waters at his prime and with one of his best bands. The concert was filmed during a West Coast tour in 1971. Titles include: Long Distance Call, Hoochie Coochie Man, Manish Boy, Walkin Thru The Park, Crawlin' Kingsnake, Shes Nineteen Years Old, Got My Mojo Working and Hold It Review Rolling his eyes toward heaven and shaking his head like a man possessed, Muddy Waters cast a powerful spell. Not as good as some of the other live dvds of Muddy. But still, it was very good as it is. The Dvd was shipped fast. Thanks.

An Important Historical Document
This is the only (known) commercially available DVD that includes the legendary guitarist Sammy Lawhorn on it. It is an excellent look at one of Muddy Waters' live bands, in the era right before Bob Margolin joined the crew. Willie "Big Eyes" is on drums, Fuzz Jones on bass, and Pinetop is on the piano. Truly a great band and the sound/picture quality is excellent. So why not 5 stars? Its a little short (50 minutes or so). I suppose I'd give it 4 1/2 stars really. If you love the Blues, get it.

Absolutely great - simply a must!
This dvd is simply fantastic. Muddy Waters is backed by a beautiful band (I LOVE Sammy Lawhorn!) and performs some terrific blues. The four final (bonus) tracks from the 1961 Newport Jazz Festival, albeit a very poor sound and video quality, feature some top-level blues, with Muddy Waters dancing on the notes of 'Got my mojo working'! Much better than the 'Messin' with the blues' dvd. A must.
