Vonage Digital Phone Service Adapter VDV23-VD

Cannot tell the differences between Land Line and Phone over internet service. Saving a lot compared to my old phone provider. Vonage was very helpful and easy to chat with,

I got tired of paying way over $100.00/month for landline phone service so years ago I switched to Vonage. I live in an area where cell service is still spotty so Vonage was a good option. I've never had a problem with the service and the quality of the calls has always been superb. Recently my original Vonage device was damaged by an idiot (family member so you know how that goes). Before I knew it Amazon Prime's excellent service had my new device to me and I was back making calls in no time. I'd also like to point out a service Vonage has that I find convenient. They have an excellent voice message service that can be accessed from other phones easily PLUS, get this, they send a transcript of the voice mail to your email inbox. This can be very handy.

... Make sure you call Vonage support, or chat with a support representative telling them that you would like your new Vonage box provisioned. Mine wouldn't activate when trying to do the self install/move line steps online.I chatted with a representative, and gave them my MAC address on the label on the device. After confirming activation, I plugged an ethernet cable from back blue port on the Vonage box, into my router. Plugged the power, and the phone. Worked after about 5 minutes. No problems.

My old Vonage adapter died, so I ordered a replacement from Amazon. I did not realize that it was sold by PLG Solutions in Charlotte, NC. Further research into PLG Solutions revealed that it appears to be operating out of off-campus student housing across the road from UNC Charlotte. The package was shipped from Garfiled, NJ. The new Vonage adapter connected to the Internet, but would not connect to Vonage. Vonage technical support claimed that the MAC address on the new adapter already was in service with another account. Rechecking the MAC address produced the same results. Vonage refused to associate the MAC address with my account. I cannot use the adapter that was sold to me. Amazon needs to do better screening of the vendors to which orders are forwarded.

I purchased this to replace my 10 year old previous vonage router. If you are an existing Vonage customer, you have to call customer support to change the MAC address on your account to the new router. I called and they helped right away. The new router was up and working in minutes.The only thing keeping me from giving a 5th star review is that the port forwarding feature in this router does not have source IP address fields, so if you port forward anything to a computer inside your network you have to open it up to the whole internet. (You can't specify a source IP only that allowed to connect).For the cost, this is a great router.

Works perfectly. No issues since I bought it a few months back.
