Been waiting YEARS for this!! Worth eevry penny!!
OMG OMG OMG OMG!! I FINALLY own the entire Mortal Kombat Conquest series!! Great quality =) Not super high tech but crystal clear and not fuzzy or distorted.Like many, I've waited YEARS to own this series! I've wanted it since the day the first episode aired! However, especially living in Canada, there was no way to own the entire series. Only some of the episodes from the series itself were available on DVD and available in limited quantities in the U.S (if you were lucky enough to find and own one, that is). Even then it was near impossible to own the entire series simply because it wasn't available (I remember years ago it was mentioned the only way to obtain all 22 episodes was in Australia, of all places, apparently). And for years it wasn't available, even on Amazon, and Ebay was a risky dice throw. YouTube was the only sanction for watching the episodes which were all split into 3 parts due to the size of the files. Recently, I was disheartened to learn that for whatever reason, none of the accounts that had the entire series uploaded were available anymore on YouTube =\ So out of a whim I decided to try here one final time, although like many times before, assuming that it would never, ever be available here or anywhere that would have all 22 episodes available for purchase (although I had always hoped). I searched 4 days ago and BAM! Here it was!! Finally!! THANK YOU!! From one happy MK fan to another =)If you loved this series as a kid, GET IT! You WILL NOT be disappointed! It's just as you remembered and more! Even in the 90's cheesy but fitting sound effects =D If you've waited as long as I and many others have for this series to come out all in one DVD formatted pack, then I highly suggest that you do not let this opportunity slip through your fingers! It's taken this long for all 22 episodes to be available for purchase at once, why wait more? I'm a HUGE MK fan and wouldn't pass this up for the world! The inner child in me came out when I discovered this online and when I got it today =D I'm one happy Canadian MK camper! Seriously, I had to muffle my scream/squeal out of pure happiness and excitement. No, really, true story.

This series should have been continued
This series of mortal kombat is very good and should have had at least 2 more seasons to it but Sci-fi didn't want it even though they had hellraiser 1 and 2 on their network which isn't even sci-fi related. It started on TNT network but they didn't want to pay the production costs hence the hand off to Sci-fi and you know the rest. Aside from that probably the best Raiden, Shao Khan, Quan Chi and of course Scorpion, Sub-zero and Reptile actors ever! For reference this takes place at least 600 yrs before the mortal kombat movies from the 1990s as this is about the 1st Kung Lao. Enjoy (cause I know I did)!!

You weak pathetic review!
I won't go into grave detail here. This was a milk product in the hay day of mortal kombat.Any video game to film adaptation never lives up to what it should be and this is no exception.Bad acting, bad scripts, bad everything.Character introductions of never developed in game characters etc.It simply sold because it had mortal kombat in the name. But as a kid I was so in love with anything and everything mortal kombat. This is more like buying a B rated horror film and expecting it to be so bad it's good.Don't buy this expecting anything outside of reliving your childhood and seeing something tangible towards that.ThanksBucky WilsonWww.facebook.com\bucky5676

COME HERE...FINISH HIM
I remembered watching this way back in 1998 and enjoyed every 22 episodes of it, when it ended in May 22 1999. 20 years later I didn't know they had it on dvd. Then I bought it. And they didn't have it on Blu-Ray. Better sound. Better picture. If Blu-Ray didn't have it so I bought it on dvd. Best memories of Mortal Kombat Conquest. They should've made second season, I thought it was awesome.

Fun Campy Show
I liked the show it was good campy fun. I loved seeing origin stories and a lot of great Mortal Kombat characters in this series. You get to see Kung Lao, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Shao Kahn, Rayden, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Reptile, Rain, Noob Saibot, Reiko, Kitana and Mileena. Some characters are handled better than others. Some play an important part and others are introduced and forgotten about. I felt like Kitana could have been a bigger part of the story. Reiko doesn't do much but report to Shao Khan. Shang Tsung is probably the most fully realized villain in this series. Another villain they really developed and had a big role and showed some background and how he came to be was Sub-Zero. My complaint is that toward the end the last several episodes focus too much on characters that have nothing to do with Mortal Kombat games and were made just for this show. While I enjoyed Kreeya and Vorpax played by Fabiana Udenio and Tracy Douglas I thought it took away the focus from other characters who are actually important to the Mortal Kombat mythology and could have had a bigger role. I guess they thought they needed to create another set of characters that could antagonize Shao Kahn since he couldn't really attack Kung Lao without breaking the rules of Mortal Kombat. Similarly Shang Tsung has to force Kung Lao to attack him first or has to send others to kill Kung Lao since he also really isn't supposed to attack Kung Lao until the next tournament. That is why I believe some of these issues would have been resolved if instead they focused on the tournament and instead this series begins after the end of the last tournament and Kung Lao is trying to find and train new fighters for the next tournament. Also spoiler alert but every time he finds a new fighter it never works out. I have two episodes left but I feel like Shang Tsung and Vorpax had better character arcs then the heroes. Still I liked the action the music and also glad the characters use their powers in the show.

Finally, I have it
If you watched this back in the day, then you will enjoy this all over again. Some people talked about how it looks but that is what I remembered it look like. This is still a great Mortal Kombat dvd and can't be discredited.

I'm glad I could finally find a physical copy. One of the best Video Game adaptation out there.
If you are a fan of the Mortal Kombat lore, then this forgotten series is certainly made for you. Set around the last time earthrealm won a tournament, in the era of the great Kung Lao (not to be confused with present time Kung Lao), it holds no punches to become an era defining tv fantasy. What, you never heard of it? Well, there is some factors in play here. At the time it was aired, the parental censorship boards were at their strongest. Just for having the "Mortal Kombat" name, this show was banned in half the places that would have aired it. And in turn, this lack of distribution lead to a lack of VHS being made... and a much too soon cancellation. Without the proto cancel culture movement, this might well have run for as long as Xena Warrior princess, or the Legend of Hercules. It does "end" however, so don't be afraid to buy, just because you might think this will end in the middle of nowhere; it doesn't.You said banned? Is it THAT violent and gruesome?NO! Dear elder gods no... Remember, this was the 90s, so there wasn't any Legacy or MK:2021 yet. There was not yet, also, the wonderful animated adaptation (Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge). If you haven't seen it, and are here for the graphical violence, then this might be a good related buy to complete this set. What we have there, is comparable to early power ranger fight choreography. Except it isn't as campy, nor as poorly executed. (No explain-it-all "Arcana".) The cast of Conquest is composed of decent martial artists, and it shows. And despite the CGI being extremely dated, most of it survived surprisingly well to aging (being mixed with practical effects and all). So don't expect this show to focus on fatalitys, or graphic dismemberment. Nor on most of the most known and current defenders of earthrealm. (Indeed, this was 9 generations ago after all.)Once again, this was the 90s, so characters are mostly shown in their old classical costumes, down to scorpion still using the dragon living lance instead of a kunai.Instead, what we got here, is one of the most developed attempt at bringing MK's lore to the screen. And this in itself is a sight to behold.Yeah... But is it good though?I'll have to say yes on this one. You don't get to see a show like this everyday. Four fully fleshed out villains, competing against one another in a flurry of madness, each episode bringing its lot of character development. This show is so well written that it manages, in 22 episodes, to bring to you the content of 2 seasons worth of punches and plot twist, while having half of the episodes dedicated to awesomely filmed wire-fu, and still not feel rushed. The acting is decent, to incredibly good for Shang Tsung and Shao Khan. (Might be the best Shao Khan yet!) And considering all the adaptations made, this also has the best "direct-from-the-game" Raiden. The rules of Mortal Kombat states that, in order for a realm to be lost to outworld's invasion, it must lose 10 Mortal Kombat Tournament in a row. The series begins as the great Kung Lao has won the first victory, for earth, in generations. Then the fun begins. Shang Tsung is banished to the cobalt mines of Shokkan, and must find a way to assassinate the now immortal warrior before the next tournament, in order to reclaim the favour of his lord, Shao Khan.Meanwhile, Kung Lao must build a new team of defenders to be ready for the next tournament... But other powers are at play, including the Black Dragon triad, the ancestral Lin Kuei, and eventually even another realm conquering empress Kreeya. All while Shao Khan tries to contain the threat of rebellion within outworld. Plans within plans, to the point where the Baron Harkonen himself would applaud... Bringing the new ruler of the Netherrealm (read Hell), Quan Chi, into the mix.Spoiler?Well, if you are already familiar with the canon of the games, then you know that the "original" tournament was also the one earth had no choice but to win. The ultimate 10 that, would it have been lost, would have meant the end of our realm. That indeed assume that the previous 9 tournaments were lost. And of course, in this show, you get to see the bad guys win. Which is refreshing, in more ways that you might think.End Spoiler.I've missed the show when it was on air. I had to stream it from bad VHS digitized streams originally. To see it here, in all its original definition's glory, is a treat I had long thought impossible. And with the often intelligent dialogues and twists, I can add that the re-watch was even better than my first contact.Just don't expect Bi Han (the original Sub Zero) to be there. And remember that the show is set after the downfall of Scorpion, but prior to him regaining is freedom and body through his alliance with outworld. (He is still a spectre possessing someone else in there.)All in all, if you like the kind of twisted fantasy imbued in the character's bio, since the start of the franchise, then this might just have been the adaptation you were searching for.

A great purchase for fans!
All the full length and uncut episodes in their original broadcast 4:3 quality, which isn’t that great picture wise, but will do! Extra scenes that were missing on previous DVD releases and TV broadcasts are here making this a must buy! Sound is good with its original 2.0 mix! This show was so good, with fantastic ratings, but Sci Fi Channel wouldn’t take it on when the studio wanted to ship it across to them due to production costs! Leaving it on a cliff hanger that was later answered by the official MK website, story below for anyone who missed it... P.S if you’re a fan you have to buy this! Wish they’d release it on Blu-ray also for that extra bump in picture quality!“With Rayden locked up, beaten and fatigued, he prays to the elder gods, who will not allow this to happen any longer. Even though they believe that mortals are the masters of their own fate and should deal with foul play themselves, they will not tolerate the breach of an entire defenceless realm. Kahn's actions are undone by the Elder Gods, thus banning him from any tournaments for five hundred years. He will now act as Rayden does, only as a spectator, and not as a leader, fighter, or anything that has to do with Mortal Kombat. With this set in motion, Kung Lao, Taja and Siro return to Earth Realm in peace, along with Shang Tsung to Outworld, Quan Chi to the Neatherealm, and Vorpax to the Cobalt Mines. Having not aged before the next tournament, Kung Lao remains in top physical shape, but as for Taja and Siro, they start to age and become less competitive. For years having dealt with nightmares of his death at the hands of a four-armed monster, Kung Lao is about to confront them in the upcoming tournament. Through Rayden's guidance and instruction, Kung Lao is the best he's ever been in mind, body and spirit. But the thunder god reminds him that his opponent is the most powerful Mortal Kombat has ever seen.To win back the emperor's favor, Shang Tsung searches the depths of the universe to find a fighter who will undoubtedly win the next tournament. In the realm of Shokan, he finds Prince Goro, an eight feet tall, four-armed warrior born half man and half dragon. The emperor is very pleased and looks forward to the tournament. When the next Mortal Kombat takes place, it pits the defending champion against the new contender Goro. The match lasts several days, with neither man refusing to quit. Rayden watches as Kung Lao starts to lose his edge, and his life force. Any normal man or Outworld fighter would have surely been defeated by the warrior monk, but Goro is nothing like anyone from either realm has ever seen. After nearly a week straight of the most intense match in Mortal Kombat history, the great Kung Lao is killed by the prince of Shokan.Shang Tsung forms an alliance with Goro to dominate the tournament ...Now that Kung Lao is dead, Taja and Siro have grown old and withered away, Rayden must find another to train. He confronts Sub-Zero to fight for Earth Realm, but the ice ninja declines. Rayden will not find the chosen one until almost five hundred years later.Because Outworld has won this tournament, Shao Kahn restores Shang Tsung to his side as Outworld's sorcerer, and Goro as the emperor's second in command. Now they will need to finish the set of wins to invade Earth Realm, but neither Shao Kahn nor Shang Tsung is worried.Over five centuries, Outworld amasses eight more victories to make nine, while Rayden looks to the elder gods and demands to know when he will find the Chosen One.”

A fun watch!
This series is the best live action Mortal Kombat adaption to date next to the first movie, regardless of toned down violence in either. Yes the acting is cheesy and fight scenes aren't quite impressive, but cheesiness (contextually) still prevails in current TV shows so not an issue. Casting is solid especially with Jeff Meek playing both Raiden and Shao Kahn extremely well. I still love this version of Kahn over any other including games, Meek's did an amazing job with his portrayal. Other than that the show has some great synth soundtrack with memorable original music, which sadly isn't found in shows these days. It was unfortunate that show ended prematurely and quite a bummer knowing that second season would have tied everything to the first two movies. But since there is a published timeline one can at least fill in the gaps. It's a fun watch overall, I highly recommend checking it out if you are fan of Mortal Kombat or series such as Hercules TLJ and/ or Xena.

Worth every penny!
It's a great show, albeit campy and with aged special effects. But that doesn't change the fact that the characters are fun and memorable (even original ones not from the game), the plots are interesting, the fight scenes are fast and intense, and the music rocks! As for this particular release, well, it's the only official way to get the series in North America, so there's not much choice. I do have the old import from Australia, but this release is MUCH better, with the colors and the contrast noticeably nicer, and the commercial segways in tact. It's the definitive and most complete release of this underrated series. If you're a fan of Mortal Kombat, particularly the first movie, you owe it to yourself to see this series, and this is the perfect format to do it!
