Yes it can. I am a professional metalsmith. The adjustable plastic foot pulls off, and if the good Doctor can get a perfectly flat cut, that plastic foot will just pop back on the leg(tube). DO NOT cut the top of the leg.

Q: Would this hold an allywood 5/4 x 24 x 72 table top?

I believe it will. It is very well built and very stable. My table top is only 60'' long and about 1" thick, but it is strong, sturdy and is holding up very well. Good Luck

Hi Eyal,This leg has an maximum adjustment of 1". We've found any adjustment past 1/2" will affect the stability of this item. Although you can get up to 29", we would not recommend going past 28 1/2".
