NOT "HIKING BOOTS"
And not even hiking shoes. Soles are too thin especially around ball of foot area for that. Sort of OK for "casual" (not long walks on concrete even) but if I wanted casual, I could've bought far less expensive chinese junk than this chinese junk. Too late to return of course once used on a trail. Last Danner scammers I will ever buy.Edit: Not even OK for "casual." Maybe OK for bedroom slippers if they were slip-ons. I will try walking barefoot on the trail for a while and see if there is a difference. Plainly crap shoes from a junk-bond company.

Look great, feel great!
I was looking for a casual trail and general purpose walking shoe, and this is it. I ordered a couple different brands thanks to amazon wardrobe and absolutely fell in love with this shoe. I have a pair of Danner boots that I have had forever, and I am glad to see them branching out. The shoes are real leather (looking at you keen!), but what really makes them is the back part that goes around the top of the heel. When you slip them on, you feel like they are embracing you with a warm hug... but on your feet. They also look very slick. The lighter orange laces and white accents give a nice contrast to the dark leather. If you are like me and disappointed in the increasingly crappy quality of Keen and Merrell shoes, I would most definitely check these out.

No arch support
I have worn Danner stitch down boots built on the 650 last for 20 years. These shoes are true to the size of that last. I wear a size 12.The uppers are nicely made. The leather seems to be much better than other offerings in this price point.I bought them as an alternative to the awesome Lowa shoes at twice the cost. I found you get what you pay for. My biggest issue is the complete lack of arch support. Additionally, my first time wearing them I stepped out of the car in a gravel parking lot and I could feel every stone under my foot. They are definitely more like a sneaker than a boot. (my wife said they look like bowling shoes) The midsole probably provides more cushion than a urethane midsole but also less support and protection.I regret purchasing them. I’ve had 6 pairs of other Danner boots. They are probably the last Danner shoes I will buy.

A 1/2 size too small!
As much as I like the shoe style and they seem to be made well, BUT they were at least a 1/2 size too small. I bought both 13 Wide & 14 Medium since I fit in either size. But, sadly, neither size fit at all. Their 13 'Wide' width is narrow. And the size 14 was just not long enough. I even tried on thin dress socks. It seems like this is just how these shoes run, which is definitely on the small side. I don't think I will chance it with another pair of Danner shoes, since it seems that they may all run too small. I wonder what sizing standard they are going by? Because these are not the correct sizing in any way. These might fit a person with stunted growth or a 'little person' maybe. But, these shoes would not be able to fit a normal or average sized person. Thankfully amazon offered free returns & back they went immediately.

Approach shoes
This is an approach shoe...suitable for technical scrambling to approach a technical climb. It does not (and should not) have the same cushioning as a trail or running shoe. Seems suitable for edging. On par with some 5.10s I had years ago. Might even say I like the vibram sole over the 5.10 rubber? Gasp. I was trying them for tree climbing (arborist) as an alternative to trail shoes. I don't wear arbor boots. Not enough flex in the sole for limb walking. Pretty decent for adventure though. Personally do not like all the padding around the ankle. Pulls my socks down, and rubs achilles on my left foot. Only complaint, but super annoying.

Look Not as Expected
I bought these for walking shoes that were casual/looked good. They don't really look as good in person. They are comfortable and would make a fine hiking shoe, but didn't meet the mark of doubling as a casual shoe too, so I returned them.

Awesome Shoes
I got these for my guy... They aren't quite his style so he wasn't sure if he would keep them... Then he put them on and changed his mind. He says they are super comfortable... and he gets all sorts of compliments on them. They look really cool! He has worn them just around town, to work, and hiking... great for all occasions.

Love these shoes!!
Love these SHOES!!! They’re NOT hiking boots so don’t kid yourself. If you’re hiking in these you need your head examined. Buy hiking boots not these shoes. They’re a casual shoe that’s extremely comfortable and great looking. The soles don’t do well on ice. I like them so much I bought a pair in each color.

Excellent sneaker-style hiking shoes
A lowcut hiking shoes in a sneaker style (like Adidas Stan Smiths) with a relatively sturdy Vibram outsole. The heel is flared out toward the bottom for added grip and stability.Available in regular and wide sizes (a godsend for my wide, stubby feet).Great for fairweather hiking on even rougher terrain. Will definitely buy again.

Nice shoe
A little uncomfortable for a danner product for the price but I still use them. I will say they have an enormous amount of grip!

Good buy
Good quality. Shoes do require rain proofing spray to protect the material and keep the dirt off. Very happy with purchase.
