Not exactly like real milk, but pretty close
I've been avoiding buying milk because of the plastic containers. It just guts me to throw that big plastic container into the recycle bin, not knowing if it will really get recycled.A friend recommended this powder to me. Unlike every other powdered milk I've tried, this actually dissolves instantly and completely. If your water is really cold, it doesn't dissolve as easily, but it does with lots of stirring. Your best bet is to mix with room temperature water, then refrigerate. As to taste, it tastes a lot like real milk. Not 100%, maybe between 90%-95%. That's good enough for me. When it's cold, and I'm drinking it with a peanut butter sandwich, or using it with cereal, I'm quite satisfied with the taste. I also mix some powder in with tea, to get milk in my tea. It works great for that.As to price, well, it's a lot pricier than real milk. Each packet gives you a quart of milk, which costs a little less than $2.50. That comes out to $10/gallon, versus around $3/gallon at the store. If you have a large family, I can see how that wouldn't be worth it. However, if you have a small household, and you want a couple of cups of milk a day for drinking or using with cereal, I think it's a good value. And you're not dumping a big plastic container into the recycle bin, nor filling a gas-guzzling truck with heavy milk containers to the local grocery store. Now, if I had access to milk in glass bottles, I'd drink that, but that option disappeared in my area in the last couple of years.

Handy to have on hand
We like having several packs of this milk on hand in the pantry. Tastes great and beats running out for regular milk when we run out and somebody wants cereal.

What I think
I only bought 2 packs of this because it was my first time trying it & I didn't want to get too much in case I ended up hating it. I put both packs in a 20 oz shaker bottle that I use for protein shakes. I did not put the wire ball in with it - which was fine. It didn't need that. So, each packet is designed for 8 oz of water. I filled up my bottle to the 16 oz mark, and added cold water from my fridge. Then I added the powder from the 2 packs. Shook it for about 10 seconds in all directions. It dissolved very well and needed no extra help. The thickness was just like regular milk thickness. Had I used only 1 pack of powder with 8 oz then it would've been way to thin and the taste would not have been very apparent.Using 2 packs with 16 oz's worked out well. The chocolate flavor is not very strong. I guess people like their chocolate milk flavor in different ways. Some may wish this had a stronger chocolate flavor. I tend to like my milk more chocolaty. However, this was fine with me. It was enjoyable and drinkable. I didn't have to throw it out. The only thing that I noticed was that it was a bit gritty. Not sure how to describe this. All I know is that while drinking it, it was smooth but I could tell it was made out of powder. Perhaps I did not shake it enough. It just says 'shake well' on the pack. Doesn't say how long. Or maybe it would've been better to mix it in a blender. I don't have any more, so I can't try that now. This aspect wasn't enough of an issue that it bothered me. But I'm trying to describe it for people who have not tasted it and want to know before buying.I do think it's a tad bit expensive. But I guess it depends on what you're getting it for. As far as 'health' goes - the first ingredient is pure 'cane sugar'. So when you see that, it tells you this is not made to be a health drink. I was not ordering this as a health drink, which is okay for me. However, for kids or diabetics or people who are trying to avoid sugar - you might want to take this into consideration.Bottom line, I would buy this again. The taste was pretty good considering it was a powdered milk. I would not buy tons of it due to the price though. Next, I will buy the 'regular' flavor to see what I think of that.

Wow. Just... wow. I'm impressed.
As one who lives alone, getting through even a 1/2 gallon of milk before it spoiled was rare. But, the morning coffee just has to have real milk in it - no liquid chalk for me, thank you. Having been disappointed by dry-milk products before, I bought the Milkman brand solely based on the reviews here and gave it a try. Wow. Other dry milks were "okay" if I was only going to use them in cooking. This stuff, however, is downright yummy if you even drink it straight. In the morning coffee, I can't tell a difference between Milkman and 2% milk. In fact, it may taste just a little better. This stuff is "cereal worthy" - milk and cookies worthy. Plus, being able to mix up only one quart at a time is perfect - no more spoiled milk. No more running out of milk either when the next bottle is just a brief mixing away. I'm impressed. Milkman, you've done a marvelous job of producing a superior product. Kudos, and thank you.

Good powdered milk at a good price.
I like to keep these packets around for our house in the Bahamas, and at home when I'm too lazy to go to the store. These have been great.

First box great, second box spoiled quick
Our first order worked out great. The packets were convenient and the milk was very tasty. Oddly, for our second order, despite expiration dates on packets in 2026, each quart spoiled after about one-two days of use.

The "kiss of cream" makes a huge difference
I have purchased this several times in the past. The little bit of fat makes all the difference between this product and nonfat powdered milk. Although it is very expensive for a gallon (4 quart-size packets), I keep it on hand for when I run out of milk. I follow the instructions and I've never had lumps. When it's mixed, if you have a see-through container which I do, you can see a thin line of the "fat" which has settled at the top so be sure to stir it before serving.
