Perfect Coffee Station
My family has too many coffee drinkers and I was constantly making a pot of coffee. So the answer was, of course, a bigger pot. I was concerned about the height of most of the bigger pots so I was carefully researching measurements. It fits fine under my cabinets. Surprisingly, although this one makes up to 40 cups, it is really no bigger than my 12 cup coffee maker. I made coffee (only 20 cups) right away and I must say it tasted great, it kept it warm without burning it, and now i have the prefect pot. On weekends when more coffee drinkers arrive i can make more. It also looks good on my counter. I'm very happy with this. Should have gotten this a long time ago.Update 3/3/2016This is the second one I have ordered. The first lasted 2 + years. We use it everyday since we are a large family of coffee drinkers. the first one was perfect except we wore it out. I did replace the spout valve 2X and after that it just continued to leak so I figured it was worth a replacement. Previous to this I had paid close to $100. every year or two for name brand 12 cup coffee makers. So this was a real bargain. However this new replacement has some faults I'm not crazy about. It is the same model number but slightly different in appearance. And different in function. The steam is very slow making it take a long time to fill a cup. Well, not Long but Longer that the previous urn. But more annoying is the fact that is seems to be empty when there are about 8 to 10 cups left. I still love it just curious as to why this one is so different.

Perfect for the holdays
I bought this percolator to make hot cider for a crowd on Christmas. It worked beautifully. It takes about 15-20 minutes to get hot, but when it does watch out! This bad boy is HOT! Easy to clean, easy to use. I made several large batches of cider and they all turned out terrific! I noticed that in the last batch I made, which was smaller then the rest, that some of the items in the filter were still dry. It wasn't an issue, just something to note for the future. Works best with lots of liquid :)Great price for the quality and great to have for entertaining. Travels easily as well.

Dispensing button very stiff for paper cups
The good:I bought this urn because I didn't need the entire capacity of the classic taller urn designs. This one makes all the coffee I need to serve, and it fits in a cabinet much better! ...because it is shorter. The percolated coffee tastes terrific. The innards of this coffee maker are just like all the burbling percolator urns people have been using for decades, except the basket for grounds now is plastic (and it works just as well as the old-school steel ones). The not so good:The silver push-to-dispense button is pretty stiff. The cove in the side of the urn, the inset where you push the cup to fill it, is not very tall. That creates some limitations that the "classic" old design urns don't present you with, because they had a protruding spout, with a handle over it to open the dispensing valve. If you're using porcelain or ceramic cups, and they're not particularly tall, this Hamilton Beach urn is just fine. Pushing hard mugs against the button with enough force to dispense coffee is easy peasy -- no worries. If you're using paper or foam cups for your gathering, you and your guests will have to push the cups against the button with more force than you might normally want to apply to the side of a disposable cup. (I haven't collapsed or creased and folded up any cups while trying to get coffee. But I don't know why they built this with such a stiff return spring for that dispensing button.)If you want to use travel mugs or other cups taller than what you'd serve coffee in at a sit-down meal... you have to think about where to put this urn so the tops of such taller cups fit into that cove where the dispenser button is (Hmm... prop the urn up on an old Manhattan Yellow Pages? Waddle it over to the very edge of the table or counter...?)So: Five stars for coffee, five stars for simple operation and tried an true internals... but three stars overall for some limitations of the design of the dispenser.

Great coffee first time!
I just made delicious coffee for a crowd with this. I have never made percolator coffee. I think I put in too much coffee but it came out very well. I got a 13 oz can of some sort of smooth & mellow decaf coffee from Trader Joe's and I got it very coarse ground. I used the whole can for a full urn of water (up to the 40 mark). I read that you use 1 pound for 2 gallons of water as a catering standard. The urn is about 80% of 2 gallons, so 13 oz seemed right. It was more than the directions for the urn, but I decided to wing it. I'm really glad that I did! It was excellent, even a couple of hours later. The keep warm setting is great and the coffee is nice and hot and NOT overdone. I would recommend that you get a light-medium roasted coffee and grind it coarsely in the store. My husband asked me to save the rest, which he never does when I get the Peet's catered coffee, so it is sitting in the fridge ready to make iced coffee!

Easy to use and pretty good coffee
We do a fair amount of entertaining and it was a pain to use a smaller coffee pot. Rented something similar for an event which worked well and decided to get our own. Have used it a few times and it is wonderful. Fairly quick to brew. The two stage heating avoids "stewing" the coffee after it is brewed. It was so successful at a friends house where we brought it that they decided to order their own. It words well with paper cups used on the fill lever as long as they are relatively study cups.

Great coffee pot for parties etc
Works really well. We bought it for use at our son's wedding reception in our home and it was fast. Particularly like the lower heating level once it has finished brewing. We had tasty hot coffee for a couple of hours instead of stewed coffee or cold coffee. Suggest you remove from the inside, the tap mechanism when not in use. This will keep it in good condition. Just remember to re-install it before using it next time. The tap does not work well on polystyrene cups, which I hate to drink out of anyway. But people who did use the polystyrene cups radio and safely used their fingers to push the tap pen

Do not buy this. Not Suitable for India.
Donot Buy this please. We need a Step down transformer to convert to 110 volt. A good one will cost you around Rs.4000/- Even after using a transformer it failed. But this vendor will suggest to buy.
