Hands down the best of the best.
Worth every dollar over the bowflex select tech series dumbells, easier to switch weights, more confidence in the weights staying on, smaller scale , less likely to wack my chin and all around less annoying. One other thing when the ball bearings go on the select techs they have to be replaced but the mechanism used on the twist lock is a single twist bar, a very secure method . My first 5 star rating for a product.

Lasted about 1 year
Be careful setting these things down. If you put any side-to-side stress on the weights they'll start to work their way loose (like when you're setting them on the ground after doing chest flys). Do it long enough and the plates can fall out, which can be very dangerous. These are NOT built to last. Mine lasted about a year before failing. They work as advertised, you just have to treat them gently if you want to get your money out of them. Put any kind of stress on them and you risk a plate falling out. Also had some shipping problems with them initially. I ordered two, they sent me one, then to get what I ordered I had to send the one that they mistakenly sent me BACK to get them to send me two.

The best of the adjustable weights
I had a set of "power block" weights for years. They were solid, probably a bit more durable overall than these but such a pain to adjust quickly. Additionally the range of motion is limited because of the bars at each corner. I sold those and went to the Weider version of the adjustable dumbells. What a mistake! They are huge - approximately 17" from end to end even when you are dialed in at 5 lbs. They were to cumbersome to swing around so, I returned to Costo. I didn't want to spend $500.00 on the Stairmaster weights but they are superior by every measure (with the possible exception of durability). The size is perfect. They switch from 5 to 50 lb. easy and securely. Very comfortable grip and literally take up 1/2 the physical space of the Weider and Nodictrack types. Lastly, about the durability comment I've made twice. The mechanism used to select the desired weight seems more delicate than other products. If you had to drop the weight for some reason, it would seem to more easily damage the alignment of that mechanism. Additionally, each weight plate is encased in plastic and that outside shell seems like it could crack easily but that should only be cosmetic. Bottom line, if I had the room for a dedicated set of dumbbells in each weight range, I would. However, that not being the case - these are the only way to go.

Not built to last
I purchased these dumbbells because they looked very compact and easy to operate. They certainly worked quite well during the first 8 months, and I only used them about once a week on average. However, I began to notice large cracks across several disks although they have never been dropped, hit, or compressed.I contacted StairMaster customer service to report the cracks and the representative (D. Frazier) promised to send replacement disks after I provided all of my information. Several weeks later, I still had not received the disks nor heard back from him, so I contacted him again and he pretended like I didn't send him any information the first time. Long story short, I still have not received my replacement disks despite several emails to StairMaster. I would give the product 2 stars if the customer service wasn't so atrocious.

Best adjustable dumbbell.... Not the best price
Definitely one of the best adjustable dumbbells and quickest. It's the best because it's the most compact adjustable dumbbell compared to bow flex (Also known ask Bulky Flex) and powerblocks (StackBlocks) and also Iron Master (Takes Time To Master more like). These StairMaster are also the quickest adjustable dumbbell with just a flick of the wrist. One downside would be they look very delicate, but time would tell. Bowflex is probably the most delicate adjustable dumbbell, PowerBlocks if you drop it, it could warp the metal brackets, and Iron Master could handle a good amount of abuse.Another downside is that they only go up to 50lb. You will outgrow that quick for any dude or if you're a hardcore female lifter. The last downside.... Lol priceEven though they're the best dumbbells, definitely not the best price. For $500 you can buy traditional dumbbells where you can abuse the hell out of them and just retouch it with some paint if it gets damaged.

Amazing Set of Adjustable Weights
Between my Powerblock set and multiple gym memberships I have tons to compare this adjustable set to. These are much easier to use than Powerblock adjustments, you don't feel as though the weights will come apart if the angle is off. Compared to the standard weight set, these are superior to non-rubberized static weight sets that you would come across. Overall, for a home gym that requires space saving equipment these are wonderful. The click through to each increment is easy and the quality is apparent. You wouldn't want to throw them on the ground and growl like you see some meatheads to at the gym, but they are very solid.

The best of the adjustable dumbbells!
I took a lot of time reading all the reviews, watching all the videos and testing all the options out there for adjustable dumbbells, and this set is in a class of its own. Super quick to change, feels most like normal dumbbells and in my opinion, the best looking of the bunch! I have nothing negative to say about these and I am completely happy with my purchase. There is no way I could keep up with the timing of the P90X videos without these or a full set of fixed dumbbells.
