Very sharp. Nice to carve with quality knives.

This wood-carving knife set is very nice. For the first time in a long time, they came out of the box with adequate edges. I am hard to please in this area, but these blades cut precisely and take a good amount of force without worries. The carrying pouch is quite good, the handles fit snugly in the pockets and don't come loose while carrying it. My favorite of the set for general carving work is the large Pelican knife, the mini-Pelican is great for tiny stuff too. The Cutting blade is very strong with a straight edge, it works well for taking off volume quickly. The Detail knife is also straightedge, but with a thinner spine which is good for getting around/behind other details. The handles all fit my hands well, and depending which side or direction the cut goes I find they work well in either hand. These things are so sharp I wouldn't touch them without the kevlar gloves on.

I do general home shop woodwork, but I also wanted to start carving. I had an opportunity to join a local wood carving group using the groups vast carving tools selection until I felt I was ready to start a set of my own. I like doing much research before my purchase, and covered many different manufacturer's product lines. I selected this set as the heart of my beginning collection of carving tools, and I couldn't have made a better selection. first the Flexcut products are well known, well used, and well liked. These knives are a cinch to sharpen even for a beginner, & hold an edge well. The handle/blade ergonomics make for a solid, well designed balance when making cuts. The 4 tools in this particular set includes the small pelican knife, which their other sets do not include. These are great for detail use. If I could improve on this set, I would add the small detail knife for a set of 5, but you can buy this separately,as I did. Now I am looking at other knives to add, and I am staying with Flexcut products.

I had bought just a regular straight blade carving knife from a local Woodcraft store. While it was adequate for most of my carving, I found I could carve more effectively if I had some different style blades. This set of 4 Flexcut carving kit fit the bill perfectly. The kit comes with a small and large curved blade, and a long, and short straight blade. They came razor sharp and ready to go. My only minor issue and the reason I only gave 4 stars is that the carrying case is a bit on the cheap side, and after replacing one of the knives after the first use, it cut the inside liner. Other than that, a great product!

This is a very good brand of knives, that are known to hold their edges. It’s a good combination of blade shapes and lengths and it’s a good deal.

Tools are great; they're sharp & cut easy. The simple complaints are that the tools do not have any blade protector, and the roll is very rigid. Blades are side by side, so for example the cutting edge of #1 is close to your knuckle while trying to remove #2. I made some blade protectors to help my own peace of mind, and maybe over time the roll will loosen up.

I've only been into woodcarving for a couple of years. One of the things I have learned is that the carving tools are very important and that there's a lot of difference in the quality and prices offered . Price is not the biggest criteria to consider when making purchase. Flexcut has been in business long enough to have built a good reputation. In short, they have an excellent "feel good" design and the metal in the blades is of good quality. This is a very good set to get started with, as they are about all you need for "flat blade" type of knives. The roll pack storage is quite have and should last a long time. It would be nice if Flexcut sold the case by itself (or perhaps a larger version), as I would buy another one. I'm very pleased with this set and wish that I had started out with it in the first place!

My 2 teenagers just started carving classes and they recommended these to start out with. They are PERFECT! The knives are extremely sharp, and the leather carrying bag is perfect so they don't cut anything else and don't rub against each other, dulling the blades. Warning: After using them for 2 months, the blades did cut through the cheaper leather. We learned not to wrap them so tight and it works better and makes the pouch last longer. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Cortan la madera como si fuese mantequilla. Las hojas tienen una flexibilidad que me resulta extraña y no sirven para vaciado con la punta. En cualquier caso la combinación de hojas es adecuada para trabajos generales y variados. Mango muy ergonómico. La forma de la hoja y el mango minimizan el esfuerzo para los cortes facilitando muchísima precisión. La funda es funcional, es de plástico y el diseño obliga a poner mucha atención al sacar los cuchillos para evitar accidentes.

I've bought and/or used various knives or cutting tools and this is the best. Just 4 basic blades but just the right design. Easy to sharpen, and lovely case for the knives. Handles are wonderful - very comfortable.
