Baxton Studio Barnes 6-Shelf Modern Bookcase, Dark Brown

This book case is big. I am 5'7'' and it is taller than I am. It is sturdy. I feel like I can use this for multiple purposes due to it being so tall and wide. I am very happy. It is also a very heavy box the arrives to your house. It is easy to assemble.

Product is cheaply made. The shelves are hollow and not even particle board but heavy cardboard. The fake wood covering was stripped from the shelves (see picture) and not nearly the quality I was hoping for for the price.

I wanted to order these shelves for my husband and me, and I needed 2. I have no idea why this company won't let you order more than 1, so my husband had to order the 2nd for us under his own account. Now that they both arrived and I've finally had time to put them together, I've noticed that BOTH items had LARGE scratches on AT LEAST 2 of the side panels. On top of that, one of the selves in my order had a HUGE chuck of wood missing on the corner. I tried to turn the shelf around so that it was facing the back, but because of the small back panels, you can't flip this shelf to be in whatever position that you prefer. I'm so dissatisfied that I refuse to purchase any more furniture for our new apartment until someone reimburses us for this horrid product.

Some are saying "you get what you pay for," to which I recognize how it either a) was damaged in shipping (note: Amazon's return policy, heard of it?), or b) it was heavily abused/mishandled. What piece of furniture DOESN'T crack, scratch, peel or break if you handle it poorly? I'm writing 3 years after purchasing my 3-shelf set, and even a big home move later... Is it still in perfect condition? No, because I've used it for three years! nd it still looks amazing. It remains sophisticated looking. And I have two young sons, to boot! It's home to their kids books, and nothing they've done to it has depreciated it the way others have abused theirs (and then call the product terrible). I highly recommend this product. My thought is, it's great for its price!

We purchased to shelving units (including this one). My general visual opinion is that it will look good. My husband is a genius when it comes to putting things together, but he is very fussy about quality. He said that, quality wise, this one sucks (it sucks more than the other one). He is putting it together now and plans to do some enhancing. Added a few holes (or just made some larger). Used his own hardware (rather than what was provided). With the enhancements, he says it will be sturdy. He did caution not to put anything on the shelves that doesn't have some sort of soft under surface because it will scratch. Actually, with this one he says the color is hanging on by only the tiniest of threads.

These shelves are perfect as far as size goes for the spot that I needed to put them, but they aren't as sturdy as they appear. They are already a little bit scratched from when I set my small metal toolbox on the bottom shelf, lesson learned, you wouldn't want these out in a garage. However, my cat, about the same weight as the toolbox, just without the sharp corners, is happily at home on one of the shelves. Be careful what you put on the shelves and they will be fine. I'm using it for movie and games, as well as some other lightweight stuff.

This bookshelf arrived with a literal hole through not only the box, but the interior packing, and the entire top shelf (the thickest of all the shelves). Would highly recommend buying something of higher quality.

One person can assemble this shelf within 1.5 hours. Nothing licks the metal pipes in place, so once it's together, you can't lift it up without them famming out. You'll have to push it into place.My bookshelf sits on carpet, and it leans forward quite a bit. It's away from the wall, so it's not sitting near the tack strip. If you're going to put a lot of heavy things on this, you'll have to figure out a way to secure it to the wall, which will be hard to do because there is little way to hide an attachment due to there being very little backing.

It was easy to put together and looks awesome in my apartment. One downside is that a piece or two were shipped in poor condition. I was able to hide it though.

We love it. Highley recommended. Worth the $$$.
