It works!
Was able to communicate with a Curtis 1206AC-5251 controller using this with FT-PROG and Curtis 1314-4402 software.

A nice substitute for the genuine FTDI cable
This is a pretty nice cable that is the equivalent of the FTDI USB to TTL cable. The one key difference being that there is a longer shank at the USB-A connector which houses the PCB with the components. I was able to modify this cable using a 0.1 mm thin wire to internally short RTS to CTS so that I can use the cable for a special hand-shaking application. I already bought two and plan to buy more in the future!

Use with Zadig
When used with Zadig (free to download) to install appropriate drivers, this is the only USB<->Serial adapter I recommend.

I wanted to send AT commands to “talk” directly to my HM-10 Bluetooth module processor.
I liked the fact that the colored coded leads followed conventional assignments: RXD (yellow), TXD (orange), VCC (red) and GND (black). This made it easy for me to wire the module correctly to my computer.

Works as expected

Good cable for JP1 conversion
I used this cable for programming a JP1 remote. After switching the interface to a DuPont 3x2, it worked perfectly.
