5.11 have done it again!
Before I bought this shirt (I own several now, and they're basically the only shirts I wear) I had never really thought of the shirt as being an item of practical value. Shirts are typically just covering for the torso, often with uncomfortable collars, frustrating buttons, and serve as nothing more than a staging area for the "desk jocky's noose" (a tie, if you couldn't guess it).Well, 5.11 have proven me wrong in the best possible way.Not only are the quality of these shirts above and beyond anything I've ever encountered in practical/tactical clothing, but 5.11 have introduced real-world practical value that, once you've experienced it, you'll never want to sacrifice by wearing "lesser clothing".Starting with the sleeves, they have two button positions, so if you're wearing gloves you can enjoy more room in the sleeve... if not you can draw them closer to the wrist, which improves comfort.More impressively, you can roll the sleeves up and withdraw tags from the inside of the arms which run through a loop on the upper section of the arm, loop through and button onto themselves. This means when you roll up your sleeves, THEY DON'T CONSTANTLY FALL BACK DOWN while you're working! Absolute genius! The shirt comes with optional "pips" for those in the armed forces, and comprehensive sewing instructions for them are provided. I like that they aren't mandatory, as I find them a constant snag-hazard out in the forests where I spend much of my time.Every stitch is flawless... nothing lose, no wobbly seams, no fraying... it's the standard I've always wished for and - until I bought this shirt and the 5.11 "Stryke" pants [which I've also reviewed here on Amazon] - had never experienced. The back of the shirt has a flap-covered, center-sewn mesh "vent"... which - despite what you think when you hear "vent" - does NOT make you cold in adverse weather... but DOES stop you sweating amazingly well! I wore mine all through Summer 2013, which was impressively hot here on the Sunny Suffolk Coast, and was pleasantly surprised not to be swimming in my own sweat as I had expected (sorry for the imagery there)! There are two breast pockets, each with a "pen gap" along their top flap seam. They also fit small penlight-style tactical flashlights nicely. The pockets are impressively roomy, too, and are center-gusseted so they don't intrude inward when stuffed to capacity! My absolute favorite feature of this shirt are the "concealed document pockets". They're accessible from either side of the buttons/button-holes on the shirt, and run the entire front interior of the shirt up to your armpits and down to just a few inches above the waist. Why do I love these so much?Well, not only can I keep my merino gloves and buff in them - respectively - with LOADS of room to spare for letters etc; I can tuck away a "Hothand" hand warmer in each side, and benefit from the heat directly on my chest where maintaining body temperature is absolutely critical. That has been an absolute godsend in the winter, and once your chest is warm... the rest of your body will stay warm too!Just like with the 5.11 "Stryke" pants, this shirt looks so smart, it is every bit as at home in the world of executives and boardrooms as it is in nature's back yard!Supremely comfortable, insanely well made, tough as nails, water and grime resistant, and looks incredible.Go on... add it to your basket! You won't be disappointed!

Excellent product.
What can I say...If you are a man...of man size, with full length arms in proportion and a waist that's narrower than your chest and you are looking for a quality product, here it is.I bought 2 in grey storm and khaki or desert brown like this...They arrived quickly well packeged and in excellent condition.I have worn this product extensively whilst abroad in Egypt and it's stood up well to all the stresses I could chuck at it; it's been sandblasted sunbaked and washed in The Nile and lost none of its quality save that Teflon coating 5.11 go on about which is nice but don't last long anyway. ..It does wick sweat quicklyCool washDo not use conditionerHang out for quick dry I never tumble dry 5.11 gear. And I never iron it. ..perfect for out and about in the field for the discerning man.And of course, it sports the hidden pockets, which prove very useful.Highly recommened.Hope this helps

Good but too expensive
The shirt is of very good and solid fabric, I took a small one but it's still a bit too big for me. Although these kind of clothes are made to be wore comfortably. It is not matte black but a bit shiny, the touch is sturdy. it is ideal for outdoor conditions, but doesn't look very casual. I'm fond of the brand, but this is not their best piece.

Well made, but 'large' USA sizing
If you are usually size XL in the UK , then a Large size will fit as these are USA sized garments. Well made, but wash separately as the dye runs for several washes.

Comfort and functionality in one.
Excellent quality as always with 5.11. Slightly tighter fit than the all cotton tactical shirt. I’m an XL and 6’4” tall with long arms and this is just right. Ideal for summer with roll up arms that can be buttoned in place. It is called a Tactical shirt but you can wear it anytime really as it’s not too overtly military. If you wanted to have a more military look or use it for work you can sew on epaulettes and a badge holder that come with the shirt. It’s comfy, tough and has loads of useful pockets.

5.11 Taclite Pro Long Sleeved Shirt - Tundra - Large
I've reviewed this item before and I've certainly not changed my mind about it. This shirt is comfortable to wear in all seasons, is fade resistant, water repellent (to some extent), and easy-care. After washing it dries a lot quicker than the old cotton shirts and doesn't need ironing (if properly hung up to dry). No need for short sleeved shirts: just roll up the sleeves and fasten the tabs! The ideal piece of kit for an outdoor life or for lightweight travel. Furthermore, you have the bonus of a couple of hidden pockets. I now have 6 of these and I'm thinking of buying a couple more. Really like this product!

5.11 Taclite Pro Long Sleeved Shirt - Black - Large
I've already reviewed this product and I haven't changed my mind. This is the ideal piece of kit for an outdoor life or for lightweight travel. I use to wear 5.11's for trekking, travel and woodland work. I have now got into the habit of wearing them nearly all the time since this type of clothing is so practical.

5.11 Taclite Pro Long Sleeved Shirt
I've been using 5.11 gear since the 80's when they were still labelled Royal Robbins. The modern day poly-cotton taclites are a great improvement on the 100% cotton-canvas. They are easy-care, fade resistant, lighter to wear and to some extent _ water repellent. They ideal for "rough travel" and outdoor activities. Just one word of caution: when working with big campfires or bonfires (controlled burnings) I always play safe _ I never wear synthetics, I revert to cotton. I learnt this lesson the hard way. However, I really like this product. I'll definitely be buying more taclites in future!
