Excellent quality for the price!
This is beautiful, quality banjo. After a week so far so good. It sounds great with good sound projection. It is a bit heavy. I don't know how heavy closed back banjos are supposed to be but it is not a deal breaker. I think it about 12.5 pounds. All new banjos that are shipped to you do not have the bridge installed. This is to prevent the banjo head from being punctured or broken. Easy to set up. Lots of info about this the web.Other reviews claim the banjo does not stay in tune. This happened to me but was easily fixed by tightening the tuning nut a little bit with a screwdriver. It has been holding it's tune for days now.I had an Ibanez semi-hollow guitar many years ago. They are good quality instruments without breaking the bank.Keep on pickin and grinnin!

Pretty banjo. Bad tuning pegs
This is a pretty banjo. But, the tuning pegs won't keep the strings tuned. You may need new tuning pegs if you buy this banjo

Qc issues
Wooden chips/ shavings taken off the bridge, hard scratch in clear coat near the neck. Supposedly a new product

Perfect for beginners through intermediate.
Incredible bang for your buck banjo. This banjo will last you until your bluegrass band is making you enough money to pay for something top of the line - and in my opinion, most average banjo players will be happy with this instrument for life!

Sounds worse than my old Hondo II
I bought an RV and parked it at the farm and wanted an old beater banjo to play while I was out there and not have to take one of my expensive ones just in case someone wanted to borrow it and not bringing it back. I was so excited when this banjo arrived because of the reviews. I grabbed the box and man was it light. I guess these other reviewers have never played a real banjo. I opened it up and commenced to tighten the head and set it up. I have built an instrument or two so I know what I am doing. I tightened up the strings and YUK, WHAT NOISE! It was unplayable. The 4 strings sounded worse than my first Hondo II banjo that was given to me and my brother for Christmas when I was 16 years old. The 5th string prinked, chinked, clinked and was dead all at the same time. I thought for a few minutes how I could salvage the deal but could not justify paying $400 for such a contraption that sounded so awful. I then boxed it up about twice as fast as I unboxed it and sent it back. Thank God for Amazon prime. The most positive thing about it is the way it looked. It had a pretty finish and the banjo looked like it was worth $400. But I would rather have an instrument sound good than look good. I have built some cigar box guitars that look like a cigar box with a guitar neck on it but sound and play like a $2000 Les Paul. Maybe I just got a bad one. I wound up buying a Goodtimer 2 off of an online swap and shop brand new and in the box, which is a $675 dollar banjo on Amazon, for $150 dollars. This banjo is made out of way cheaper wood and parts than the the Ibanez banjo I am leaving feedback for but it sounds 20 times better. I have been playing the banjo for over 40 years and was pretty darn good at it until I had a stroke on my right side 3 years ago and decimated my right hand roll. I'm getting some of my mo jo back but it is slow and I need a better banjo than this one to get me where I once was.
