I bought this card, my son thinks it is fake because it is a chirazard ex and said "evolves from gyrados", is this true?

It depends on the seller of the card, some are real, some are fake, so before purchasing I highly recommend asking for photos (the one I'm currently selling is real, but it was been used in a few tournaments, so it is heavily played and I have pictures of it as proof). Your son is correct unfortunately, that card is fake, because this card evolves from charizard ex.

If the card is 108/106 then yes it is secret rare. Any secret rare has a number outside the set size, so for flashfire 107 and 108 are secret rare since there are only 106 cards in the set.
