NewYall Ignition Starter Switch & Steering Lock

The item I received looked just like the item I needed to replaced...everything including part numbers checked out.It wasn’t until installation that I found a very small but important error in fit. I thought maybe I just had to fuss with it and it would fall into place. After many attempts I realized it was a very minor angle of the hole for where a pin mechanism went in that was the problem. Desperate, I drilled in to correct the issue. I didn’t get the results I had hopped for and now that I drilled into it I wouldn’t be able to return it?? It maybe I received a defective part? I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience? I don’t know? I managed to clean up my old one and it works ok for now . I still need to replace it but don’t know if I need to spend more on original part? Overall very disappointed.

VW wants over $100 for same piece. Did have to file casting in one place.
