How do you open the badge holder?

There is a plastic zipper on the top of the badge holder, which needs to be opened with a little force.

How big is the neck opening? Measured without the end toggle. I need an opening of 38-40 inches total..

Hello, the folding size of the lanyard is about 19 inches, and the opening and straightening size is about (90cm),35inches.

Are these lanyards polyester or nylon?

I went on line to see. These are not the ones I have. The ones I have are the ones shown next to (left) the multi colored horizontal badge holder ones you are looking at. Mine are 5 pack $9.99, nylon, assorted colors, 5 pack, 5/8" wide, vertical ID holder, and very comfortable to wear. My family and I use them when we go on our cruises for room key, ID, credit cards, etc. I like the vertical ones because they hang better and you can always turn them horizontal if need be. Hope this helps.
