Grumbacher Hyplar Gloss Varnish Spray for Acrylic Paintings, 11 Oz. Can, #547

I've tested a ton of varnishes and this is toward the top of my list. No drips, easy to use, no endless shaking to mix product, beautiful quick-drying gloss. HOWEVER...the smell is powerful and not to be underestimated. I used this product outside in my back yard and I STILL got a powerful headache. (I'm going to use a mask next time it's varnishing day.) Despite the smell, I'm going to continue to use this product because the results are that good.

I bought this spray to use over Uni-Posca paint pens. Seems to work well. No negative impact on the color or line definition. Not sure if UV blocking though. Uni-Posca pens really need UV protection.As others have noted, this varnish is very strong smelling. In fact, I can't emphasize enough just HOW strong the odor is. If you use this product indoors, you will regret it. If you have asthma, you will struggle with this product. It is the strongest smelling spray product I have ever used...by at least a factor of 3X! I use it outdoors, and I leave the paintings outdoors for AT LEAST 6 hours on a warm day. BE WARNED! THE ODOR IS THAT STRONG! AND IT WILL JACK WITH ASTHMA...GUARANTEED.Still, I am happy with the product and the seller. It was delivered in 3 days.

This is it!!! SO easy to use, looks great after only one coat, dries stunning, my go to varnish for acrylic paintings. Love that it's dry-ish in just a few minutes, and you can do that second coat minutes later, not hours. Great for my clients, and the fumes fade quickly.

I use this to seal fluid art acrylic paintings with a gloss finish. It is easy to use (I have been spraying with the piece flat instead of vertical because I don't really have the space to do vertically). The finish is very nice. The only negative I have is that it does have a very strong smell that seems to last a long time after spraying (over a month). It definitely needs to spend a lot more time in the garage "drying" before I bring into the house. Because of that issue, I like the Liquitex Soluvar better.

I liked the look of paint after 3 coats on canvas, but cannot comment on Durability or water resistance. I have not had it done (sprayed on) but a short time so time will tell about durability ~ It was be hung inside so not liking to ever comment on water resistance as I used to finish an acrylic paint art piece on a canvas. Sprayed nicely & got a high gloss finish so happy with the paint

I wanted to neutralize this brightly colored painting that I had so I decided I would just use Greys and tans and blacks and whites to cover over the original painting. However the paint I used was just craft paint and it looks very flat and not great. This spray helps give it a little bit of a Sheen and really made a difference. I'm very happy with it. Save me a lot of money didn't have to buy another painting!
