NOVA ILNS 1-1/4 Inch x 8TPI Thread Wood Lathe Chuck Insert/Adaptor (External M38 x 3.5, fits Nova Insert-Type Chucks to 1-1/4" x 8tpi spindles).

Worked as advertised. Perfect fit and made an easy adaptation to my lathe. Heavy duty. Nice finish. Nice to see a product that works as good as or better than advertised.

I use this to mount my SuperNova2 chuck to my Jet 1642 lathe. A lot of other full-size lathes also use the 1 1/4" 8TPI spindle size, but check your actual lathe documentation before you buy this to make sure you are getting exactly what you need. This fits solidly, doesn't appear to introduce any runout at all. And there's a grub screw that you can use to tighten the whole assembly (this insert plus chuck) to your spindle so it doesn't spin off when you sand in reverse, or whatever. This works right up until you lose the little grub screw. Watch out for that!

So many adapters are basically internal threads than external threads instead of the internal threats being just right on top of the external threads, which really worked out perfect to go from a 1 inch eight threads to a one and a quarter inch eight threads on my leave with a one and a quarter inch eight thread spindle.

Nice insert for my Nova chuck...a little overpriced but that is NOVA for you.

The insert needed to be hones out to propery fit on the lathe arbor, which everything else fits onto perfectly. I needed to reverse the insert on the shaft and hone the inside with a dremel tool, then smooth with emery cloth. Not a big deal, but a pain to do a little better QC was needed on this. Also, the circumference of the insert that rides against the lathe arbor, needs to have a larger surface. The reason I point this out is because once I honed out the insert so that if properly slipped over the flat part of the arbor, it must really hit home or when the chuck is installed or it an wobbles. Chuck should come with the adaptor spanner wench. Once I was able to refine the fit of the ILNS so it properly fit onto the arbor all the way the chuck spun well. I expect it to work. It is not the Easy Tools chuck, but it does not cost as much either.

I love it when a plan comes together and this adapter was a perfect fit. A little expensive but the chuck is way more and totally useless without this adapter

Came wrapped in rust inhibitor bag-excellent. Adaptor was free of burrs and fitted my chuck and lathe perfectly.
