I
I cannot believe how good this speaker sounds. I have tried SO many speakers before this one but this speaker is in a class all it's own. This speaker is EVERYTHING I was looking for. It gets Very loud without distortion. I have only turned it all the way up once just to see how loud it gets. I've never needed to after that, highest I go is 75% but usually lower than that. By far the loudest speaker I've ever owned *absolutely DESTROYS the G-Boom for loudness. The clarity this speaker produces is what sealed the deal for me. I just couldn't believe a Bluetooth speaker could sound this good. It hits the his mods and lows effortlessly. It even gets down into the sub bass range. I can actually hear the base line on the tracks I listen to now, nothing is lost.*base is present but not at the expense of mids and highs* I put this speaker across the room and play it, you won't believe how much detail this speaker gets out. I am hearing things on songs I didn't even pick up when wearing ear buds. Closing your eyes could fool you into thinking you're at a live show. It may sound like I'm exaggerating but this has been my experience.Other speakers I've tried:Bose sounds link mini: Decent sound but a little to muddled, and it doesn't get loud at all. But it's very portable. It's much to expensive for what you get. Not to impressed overall.Sharkk Boombox: Actually the first speaker I ever bought and still have it. It gets decently loud but distorts above 80% volume. It was $40 when I bought it. I feel I got what I paid for.G- Project G-Boom: Man what a let down. I was really duped by the reviews on this one. I was just looking for a loud speaker at this point, didn't really care what it looked like. Be warned, THIS SPEAKER IS NOT LOUD AT ALL. It was only about maybe 15-20% louder than the Sharkk. Only thing this speaker really excelled at was sub-base. Sounds quality was a little above average but with the unwieldy size of this thing you'd think it would be better. Enough on this speaker.Soundblaster Roar: This is a nice speaker and ultra portable. It actually got about 10-15% louder than the G-Boom. Almost no distortion until turned up over 85. Had good sound separation as well. Only downfall was this things base reproduction was below average. I'm not gonna say it was poor but it's close. It also played really good quality at low volumes and was small enough to take to the office. It had a quark of not playing as loud as it could if it wasn't plugged in. Kinda annoying but I was happy with the purchase. The charging cable broke and I wasn't able to easily find a replacement. It was a blessing in disguise because it lead me to the Klipsh.I've had other speakers but I've been rambling to long already. On to pros and cons.Pros:Volume is easily the loudest and clearest speaker by far I've tested. Also it doesn't suffer in volume like many other speakers I've tested when it isn't plugged in. Very good news.Sound Quality: Off the charts. Nothing is lost in the music. Even at lowest volume, this speakers sub base shakes the water on my desk. I honestly think it's the work of magic to get such great sound from a box this size.Battery Life: I play this thing all day at work and never ran the battery down. So a charge will last 10 hours of play back no problem. It does have Aggressive power management though which can be a chore to deal with* more on that later*.Portability: Kind of a push. I mean, it is a portable speaker but it weighs about 6 pounds. There's no easy way to hold it other than just picking it up. Also I haven't found a carrying case to alleviate the portability issue.Cons:Controls: I don't know what they were thinking with this. Everything is touch controls with No tactile feed back. There are two power buttons on it as well, or so it seems. The touch power button is actually the sleep button/stand by button *the real power button is the physical switch on the back*. It also does double duty as a pause play button when listening on Bluetooth. The touch controls on the top also make it harder to handle without accidentally activating on of the buttons.Power Management: When using the battery, this speaker will go to sleep and disconnect Bluetooth if no music is played for about 5 minutes so you can forget using it as an alarm clock unless you keep it plugged in all night.Like I said earlier, it looks powered off but it really isn't. You can attempt to connect to it in this state and it will wake up and reconnect the Bluetooth for further playback. But, no music for 5 minutes, it disconnects and goes into stand by. It's not THAT annoying to me but it might be for others. All will be forgiven when you hear it though. Conclusion:The speaker has some quirks *nothings perfect* but once you listen to the sound it can produce you wont regret your purchase for one second.

Best Small Portable Speaker in its Class!
I've heard a lot of bluetooth speakers, both big and small. I've owned a few recently that I've since returned as well because they lacked a little something.. soundfreaq double spot and the jbl flip 2, both had great sound but lacked bass at high volumes. I wanted something below $200 dollars that played at a high volume and could hit the mids and emphasize the bass without diminishing the sound quality at highest volume. While the two I mentioned hold great sound quality, it lacked the bass. So I knew about Klipsch home theater systems and the reputation they hold so I know a bluetooth speaker would be a great buy..especially at its price point. The KMC 3 is originally what I wanted but the sacrifice of major portability forced me to buy the KMC 1. It definitely has the bass that lacked in other small speakers, but holds the mids and highs very well to compliment the sound quality. All in all, this is a great small speaker for portable use that will satisfy your needs.. although I like my music loud and may have to get the KMC 3 as well to substitute when I want to jam!Update: I still believe this is the best PORTABLE speaker under 200 bucks, period! I just purchased the KMC 3 and although it's not truly portable, semi, it's about as loud as you can possibly get without distortion at max volume. My friend has the Marshall Stanmore and at 200 watts that thing kicks.. this being 130 watts is almost as loud! The Klipsch kmc 3 is more in your face, live-loud, with better low end which for me is awesome! I now have my home party machine and my on the go speaker. Get both and have some fun!

High Build Quality, Fantastic Sound Quality, Great Value, Lame Buttons
I purchased 4 Portable Bluetooth Speakers ranging in price from $79 - $129. As always, reviews without context are rather useless for me as it's impossible to establish a baseline. So while this review can hopefully stand in isolation, it's also heavily contrasted against 3 other bluetooth speakers:1. Klipsch KMC1 @ $1292. Polk Audio Camden @ $903. Klipsch GiG @ $804. Bose SoundLink @ $129CONNECTIVITY and USABILITY: Plugged in the Klipsch KMC1 to begin charging, turned it on, pushed/held the Bluetooth button, "Klipsch KMC1" appeared on my iPhone, the device was synced (a "pleasant" tone plays indicating connectivity, conversely a negative tone plays if the connection fails). Total sync time: about 15 seconds. The Bose SoundLink synced the fastest and easiest, but the KMC1 was just fine. UNFORTUNATELY, the KMC1 does not have any PLAY/PAUSE or TRACK controls so control of your music is done entirely on your phone. Additionally, the VOL +/- buttons are flat, touch-controlled sensors. I'd prefer buttons. The touch sensors worked fine, but you can't quickly turn the music up or down and it felt as though only about 80% of my touches actually registered (when tapping quickly). There's a light meter that extends with the increase of volume, but it seems to take 4-5 touches until it changes its length. These were my least favorite controls of the group. On the plus side, you can charge your phone/iPod via USB.PORTABILITY and STYLE: the KMC1 is still portable but it does have some heft to it. More importantly, it felt the "nicest" of the bunch (the type of speaker you'd have in your bedroom or bathroom or office or kitchen, not the kind you'd take out of the house). It feels too heavy to be durable if dropped. It's very sleek looking, especially with the glowing red buttons on the rubber grip that securely holds your phone on the top of the speaker (brilliant and well-executed idea). You can also charge your phone/iPod via the USB port on the back.SOUND: the sound quality is easily the richest of the 4. I have NO idea how Klipsch managed to do this, but it actually puts out bass you can feel. I tested the speakers while laying on the ground and this actually vibrated the floor. So much so that I actually had to change the EQ on my iPhone from Rock to OFF or sometimes even Bass Reducer (the big downside of the iPhone, no EQ, just presets). This speaker easily filled our living room (16' x 19' and vaulted ceilings) with music. It's not the kind of output you'd have to speak loudly to speak over, but it sounds far more rich and deep than its diminutive size would leave you to believe. I also own a Tivoli Radio and this FAR outperforms it. It's on par with a smaller bookshelf speaker with a 4" driver. The Polk Audio Camden handled itself the best when pushed the hardest, but the KMC1 sounds the best (for bassier music especially).BATTERY LIFE: TBD...CONCLUSION: I'd have given this 5 stars if it included PLAY/PAUSE buttons AND if the buttons weren't sensor-style (but perhaps that's personal preference... if you change volume a lot, I imagine it would get annoying fast). For the money, it's easily a win, ESPECIALLY over the Bose SoundLink. I have NO idea why someone would buy the SoundLink over these (same price at time of review). Perhaps it's people like my mother who know the Bose name, somehow trust it, and wouldn't think to buy Klipsch. But any review saying the SoundLink sounds better than the KMC1 either has an ulterior motive or works for Bose. Honestly, it's like the earbuds that came with your phone vs. any $100 speaker-brand upgrade earbuds -- THAT'S the difference in sound quality. Even though I liked the buttons on the Bose far more, I couldn't deal with the lower overall volume and the noticeably-inferior sound quality.

Klangstark !

Five Stars
Already owning a Klipsch Gig portable speaker on which the micro-USB socket had failed,I was trepidatious on trying another of their products. I need not have worried. The Klipsch KMC 1 is built to very robust standards with a substantial power supply utilising a traditional connector. The KMC 1 bears a strong resemblance to a house brick (an up-market one),but produces prodigious levels of output without distortion, as if mains powered and is easy to connect via Bluetooth recalling recently used sources (without having to "forget" them then re associate as if pairing for the first time).

Good speaker, some flaws
Occasionally refuses to turn on and you have to take t apart and disconnect the battery to reset it. However fantastic sound for such a small unit. Too heavy to be truly portable though
